Pacific North West - Excessive heat warning issued

I got another 2" - total - 10". The last 2" is a very heavy snow - packs well. The Taco Wagon made a nice packed track all the way to the county road. This snow, now, is the kind that's no fun to plow or blow. It clumps together and plugs everything up.

My concern today. Today is garbage day. I have to set my 32-gallon tote right along side the county road. I hope the garbage man comes before the snow plow. If the plow comes first - sure hope he has a drop board - and uses it.

Targets! Back in the day, we'd put our mailbox posts in 30 gallon steel drums, partially filled with rock. Snow plow, or random motorist, would knock them over, and most often, stop and right them back upright. I remember backing out my driveway, onto the main road and hitting my mailbox, i jump out and looked around quickly, and put it back upright.

My mail box is in a 55 gallon plastic barrel full of rocks. It's set back about 20 feet from the asphalt driving surface so ......... it's not been hit - yet.

The Rim Village at Crater Lake got an amazing 54 feet of snow, I think in 1996. Not all at once, that was the winter total, but still...

Had 4" of the wet clumping stuff yesterday, first time my back blade clumped up with so much snow the tractor lost traction. 72" blade normally works fine at 30 degrees. Put the "Edge Tamers" on the 50" bucket and was able to move the snow in sections.

I was just looking at a weather forecast. Indications are that the PNW might see a bunch more soon.

I'm looking at a different forecast. They are predicting a high pressure omega block that will keep all storms offshore for at least a couple weeks.

8" of snow two days ago, another 3 over night and 8" more forecast for tonight with up to a foot possible. I'm starting to run out of places to put the stuff. Photo is from yesterday.

Finally cleared our long steep driveway. Sure wish I had a front plow blade vs. using the bucket.

Had the same issue years ago. Ran put of places to push snow. Thats when i purchased my first snowblower. A rear 3 point model for my old JD870.

my current blower moves it 40+ feet away. Never run out op places to push it. Have over 24” sticking, 2 more today and there predicting heavy 8-12” overnight….but ill wait to see that. There wrong so many times.

Isn't it a treat to watch a 40 Horsepower stream of snow blasting off to places you never need consider again! ;-)

Finally - some real snow. Three more inches since midnight. I WILL be plowing today.

Its been snowing heavily here since 2 am. Will have to wait till sunrise to see extent. I had some generator service jobs set for today….guess I’ll postpone those till next week. There not anything too bad, just service. I think ill be moving snow today.

will be a good day to finish building the last 3 panels of wrought iron fence later today.
