Warning About Dealers And Their Pricing

I guess that there are differences in what people consider to be their "fair share" of taxes. It becomes even more difficult to determine what that might be when it becomes based on ideologies and behavior modification rather than simple math. People who pay very little in taxes will often go on about someone who pays hundreds of thousands of dollars in taxes as not paying "their fair share".

Give me a number... what percentage of earnings is "fair share"? For everyone?

Very true. I think the bottom 40% income earners pay like 3% of the total federal income taxes?
The top 2% pay like 50% of all the total federal income taxes?

Whats “fair” or “equitable”?

OK, I'm sorry I made the mistake of "fair share".

My beef with the top earners is not about how much they pay in taxes but rather how much they pay for help. The companies that are rated worst in customer satisfaction scores have the greatest financial ability to pay to get better help. Yet they pay the least for their help and have the most advaserial customer service policies which in turn makes them the worst places to work. The consequence to us the consumer is they are the worst companies to do business with. We as a society suffer more from that then we do from the so called not paying their fair share in taxes.

Whats fair and equitable is what you end up paying taxes due. At least you pay your taxes.

For some reason I know a lot of people working for Costco and reports are they are generally happy there and Costco is a market force…

Don’t overlook some ones and relocations are NOT driven by personnel issues but regulatory…

Another old and storied company here with 200+ Union jobs with over a hundred year history producing high quality made in California plumbing essentials says it can no longer operate here after being sued by State because blasts furnaces and metal smelters have no place here anymore… so off to Tyler TX…

Think of it this way, which group controls what percent of assets, and what percent of earnings.

The top 2% control over 50% of equity, and earn over 50% of income. The bottom 40% own essentially none of the equity, and make less than 3% of the income.

So, where is fair?

How about Budget divided by GDP, and hit every body with the same percentage. That bottom 40% would pay less than the 3% they currently do, and the top 5% would pay over 98% of the taxes.

Problem is that the top 1% pay close to 0% of their income. They have had their congress pass all sorts of deductions for them, and then have enough attorneys that the IRS. Can’t afford to investigate and peruse them. You don’t think that Bill Gates shows up to an audit with just a CPA, and one attorney do you.

A guy I worked with had been a model employee for twenty some years. He wont the MegaBucks slot machine for around $20,000,000. and turned into a **** employee. I asked him why he didn’t just quit. His response was he had enough money to hire really good labor attorneys. And, if he just kept making the employer show up and fight them, then pay his legal fees becasue they lost, they would eventually decide that they would save money by giving him a full early retirement to go away. It took two years but they caved.

The ultra rich do the same with their taxes. Billions go uncollected, because the IRS, can’t afford enough high caliber attorneys to fight them, or enough accountants to audit them.

Maybe the top 1% go through all those gyrations not to pay taxes and use all the loopholes created by their own government because they resent paying virtually all the taxes?
Maybe spread it out a bit more and they might cut back on avoiding paying taxes?

Or better yet, create a NEW tax system?
(that’s what I want)

The difference to me is people with nothing or even with all the odds stacked against them can and do enjoy success beyond anything they could imagine.

On a small scale this is repeated all the time... success is a lot about how you define it.

Not everyone aspires to money and some that have it give it away...

"The consequence to us the consumer is they are the worst companies to do business with"

So then why do "we" do business with them? Why are they able to attract and retain a work force? It is often stated that the market decides who the winners are, but most people forget that "we" are the market. There are companies that I refuse to do business with, networks that I refuse to turn my channel to, websites and search engines that I do not use. We do not need a nanny state to control every aspect of life. We actually have more control over these things than we realize, we just need to take that control. It may mean giving up some conveniences or cheap products, most often referred to as "sacrifice".

Many years ago when I was still punching a time clock I was often working 12-16 hour days trying to get ahead. It was disappointing to see my "fair share" go from 28% to 40% based upon how many extra hours I worked. To add insult to injury, my tax refund was only a few hundred dollars while my niece and her husband (both unemployed crack addicts) "got back" over $2,000. I asked them how they could get something back when they didn't even have anything withheld. That is when I learned about unearned income tax credits.

If you are going to take the top extreme, then please also include the other end of the spectrum. Where does fair share come into play when conficating my earnings to give to someone that makes poor decisions and unwilling to participate in society in any meaningful, productive way while reaping all of the benefits.
