Kubota drop in Fuel Tank strainer-filter

I have to keep an eye on it and set the nozzle for less than maximum flow or it will click off. I'm not in a big hurry to fill the tanks anyway and if you don't have a bulk tank and fill with cans, they work fine.

Most Kubota's that I observe (looked at) for some reason have the fuel filler smack dab on the middle of the hood area. Mine are both off to one side near the bottom of the door.

I don't much care for that location myself. You scratch the hood filling it and it's easy to overfill too. If I overfill mine, all it does is kill the grass.

In reality, the primary reason for them is to keep junk out of the fuel tank, they don't filter like the engine mounted filters do and never will.

Sort of a 'First line of defense' thing.
I have always hated the top of the hood fill location. My old JD had one in the same location. I bought a 30 gallon fuel caddy with a hand pump and hose to avoid messy filling with fuel cans.

My older Kubotas had the screen filters at the fill port. Both had metal tanks, B20 and M5030. They did catch some large black debris. I could never could figure out the source.

Newer tractors have plastic tanks and no screens. Wish they did. Asked once at dealership for the B26. They didn’t know of any. Now with a part number can try again. Thanks for the follow up.

Yep. There isn't any downside to those fill port filters. Where do you stand to fill the M59? On the front tire?

In my opinion (which may or may not be right)... The hood mount filler is a poor choice, especially if you are short and the hood is tall. Probably from a cost aspect it's good though. JD's are noted for that as well. Other thing I have issue with is starting battery location but that is another subject. I conder the in front of the rad and other heat exchangers as a poor location, always have. When the battery gasses off which it does normally during charge and discharge cycles, the emitted acid fumes get sucked right through the heat exchangers and usually today, they are aluminum and aluminum is corrosion prone.

I hate to be a downer, but according to Kubota's list of units this will fit it is only good for the M series and the 48 TLB. It is not a fit for any BX, B, or L series tractors.

Does it list MX series?

Again, not sure as mine are M's. Like I said, the filter ships with expansion rings that I discarded. My whole point of the thread was, I was told on here that I was FOS and I'm proving I wasn't FOS. The poster who said I was, was FOS and if he reads this...He is FOS.

Stand on the ground with long fast flow retrofitted nozzles on plastic fuel cans. That’s the interest in an inlet screen.

Age has way changing the way. On my old M5030 was a bigger and taller tractor with middle of hood fuel cap. Welded a steel 24” long x 10” grate stair step to the top OEM step to have a sturdy larger landing for on/off and fueling. Added one brace. One of the best mods I made to that tractor. Muddy boots on a hillside much safer.

I never knew the 5030 had an 'M' designation. Where my screen name come from, I had one as well. Last HST I ever owner. was a 5030HSTC to be exact. Hood mount fuel filler to boot. It went down the road when I bought my first NH round baler. Didn't have the suds to roll a 4x5 bale. I not so fondly remember having to advance the hand throttle as the bale grew in size and running out of hand throttle before the bale reached 5 foot in diameter, and that is in wheat straw, not hay. First baler was a NH 538 twine only, no electronics at all. Sometimes I wish I had kept it, was very simple unit, would make a good backup bailer. The new electronic controlled bailers are very complex and when you have an issue, it usually involves the dealer, which is why I always opt for the extended warranty. Couple field calls and expensive parts can pay for that warranty easily.

Nice 'little' tractor actually. Just not enough power. When I traded it and bought my first M9. Been with M9's ever since. Have a pair now. 92 and 85 pto respectively.

One of the sites listed L2350 (might have been Coleman’s) that listed an L2350. One of mine is an L2650 so it should match. Not sure about my L3200. Funnel strainer works fine but a secondary method might be even better though it will slow the flow a bit.

I think I paid $12.xx each for two and $6.95 shipping. It would cost me a lot more to drive to my nearest dealer.

I have no shipping issues, my dealer delivers to the farm. Very convenient.
