Is it worth it to buy the Echo CS-310?

Won't a saw chain cut through non steel hard toes? Or are these some sort of chain stopping kevlar layers like they use for chaps?

I guess if you were trying to cut your toes off you could. I've never hit my foot with a saw. Pretty sure i would drop the saw well before it got through the toe of a kevlar boot. My kevlar boots boots have puncture proof soles and pretty good toe protection and are light enough that I can wear them all day in the woods.

I am still a Husqvarna chainsaw fan 😄😄😄
The echo CS-400 is almost the same as the Husqvarna 440e that I used to have.
I still have Husqvarna 450 for cutting big trees that I cut couple days ago..

That picture, showing where you bent over and cut all that wood is why I like to use an extremely heavy, outdated, antique, cumbersome saw. I use a bow saw, and simply set it on the top of the log, making sure the bar foot is securely in place and then let the weight of the saw do the cutting. When the foot hits the ground, it is time to visibly double check to see if the log is completely cut thru, and then lug that old heavy relic to the next cut. At the end of the day of cutting, the Homelite Super Wiz bow saw is a lot easier on my back then using my Stihl MS310 with a 25" bar. (both of which are heavier than your Husky) Now if I have to go walking thru the woods, cutting a log up here and a log up there, then it is time to grab the tractor with grapple and bring them all to a central location!! That Super Wiz isn't something I want to carry all over the woods, but it sure saves my back when cutting logs to firewood length that are laying on the ground!

I wish manufacturers would use a standard numbering system to identify just how big or powerful a saw is! The Echo 310 versus the Husky 310 is a long way from my Stihl 310.
A friend told me he was considering buying a new chainsaw. I asked him what model, and he said it was a 310, (with him knowing it was a Husky). I didn't know that, and assumed it was a Stihl, so I told him I would bring him a bar and chain. Turned out not to be a Stihl, and the bar was way too big for his Husky. Guess I need to make sure of what manufacturer a 310 is when I offer spare parts, lol!
Funny thing was, all of his weedeaters are Stihl, and the chainsaw is orange, just not a Stihl....go figure.

Reason I ask is the Stihl MS170 is on sale for $189.99 with 16” bar.
I could use another small saw, but listed as “perfect for the homeowner”. Gives me a little pause on durability.

I have the MS180, Which is very comparable to the MS170. I am not an arborist, but both saws are very popular with them.
The MS180 had been bullet proof for the past 10 years or so, and I really like the no tools chain adjustment.

I used to have Stihl MS250 and Husqvarna 450 with 18" bar.

I usually sharpened the chain with a file after refilling the gas a second time in the field.

The sharpening of the chain with a file on the MS250 was not easier than the Husqvarna chainsaw at all.

Ever since, I purchased the Husqvarna 440 450 again and have enjoyed it so much.

I already sharpened the Echo CS-310 chain with a file in the field a couple times and was very satisfied with it.

I know if you wait on sale by stihl the little 170 can be had for 159-179.

I took care of a locals 310. Lasted alittle while for him with hard use. Then needed seals. Wasnt worth the cost of labor to do the seals etc for him. So he bought another saw.

One of those saws you need to learn to work on yourself when need work IMHO.

Not a fan of any of these little plastic clamshell saws myself. But took a 180 on trade one time to give my dad with easy start on it. Being older he needed that.
