Goo morning to all! Low was 50°, going up to 84°. Wind today is expected to gust to 40 mph here, but up to 60 mph near the fires.

BEF, sorry to hear that they dumped all that work on your lap..... maybe time to put the "slow roll" to retirement plan in action.

Helo, take care, I hope they find the root cause of the issue....and can get it treated asap!

Buppies, hope your feeling better soon!

Roy, glad you're feeling better, but, please, don't push it.

David and Toppop, hope the scheduled surgeries go easy and uneventful.

Drew, have a relaxing time 'working' the garden. How big is it?

On today's agenda, I am going to drive my GS down to the University so he can take one of his finals. No sense in him getting all stressed driving in the city then taking an exam.
I am using it as an excuse to go to Harbor Freight. Need to pick up a couple of the mesh face shields for weed wacking and a couple of the polycarbonate ones for when I use the angle grinder. Hopefully I won't see something that I didn't know I needed......

Everyone have a great day!

My generator has gotten a decent workout, running daily. Even the periods when the rain stops the cloud cover is too thick and we are deficient of solar PV production, meaning we use more electricity than produced by the sun. Most days a single 2 hour run is sufficient. Mine is set to run automatically when the battery State of Charge drops to 30% and terminates at 45%. Technically I could run down much lower (20% without impacting warranty) and terminate much higher (100%) but this is my sweet spot where I hope to get to next sunny period
Do you know the battery voltages that are associated with those SOC readings, David? I ask because the solar contractor, and the battery bank manufacturer, insist on using battery bank voltage to determine the trigger point for generator operation, and for all other charge/discharge decisions in the system. To the point where the warranty on the battery bank is voided if those voltage set points are changed. Not that the warranty, with the current state of affairs, is worth even the cost of the paper upon which it is written...

!

“Slow roll” is already underway, but boy is it ever slow.

I have had some plans in the works for awhile, but can’t divulge that info yet, at least to work. It could still fall thru.

Went to root canal guy today. He took X-ray, compared it to 2008 X-ray, and said something going on at the root. Will be 3rd root canal on this tooth. He said about 60% success rate at this point, but alternative is to pull it and put in an implant.

Good Morning!!!! 46F @ 7:45AM. Sunny. High 74F. Winds W at 5 to 10 mph.
No rain since midnight, but we picked up 0.15" in the previous 24 hour period. Just enough to settle the dust, and not enough to worry about erosion or ruts.

You folks have certainly been busy. Gonna take a while to catch up...

Your green thumbs seem to be alive and well at your new digs, Drew!

Yesterday I saw a badly rusted out El Camino, from back when they were based on the Chevell, maybe a '69 or so. That much rust is rare to see in California, but if I had to pick a favorite muscle car, that would be it.

The rendezvous in Monterey started off fine, with each of us arriving at the hotel within a few minutes of each other. The nice lady at the desk let us check in a few hours early, and we got in a nice hike down to Cannery Row to gawk at all the tourists, and a lone otter. Ate lunch, clam chowder and salad, then hiked back, maybe four miles all told. Mostly flat, and very nice weather, so very enjoyable. Then drove over to a grocery store for breakfast and lunch provisions for the rest of our stay. Monterey has a large park in the middle of it, so we had to drive around way out of our way to get there, and ended up making a big circle instead of retracing our path there. Odd and interesting at the same time.

My friend was awakened way too early the next morning with a very upset stomach and worse, and stayed that way for the next 24 or so hours. That killed any more sight seeing, but they were back on their feet by Monday morning checkout time, giving me some practice care giving. I ended up following them home to make sure of a safe arrival, and came back yesterday, mostly in hopes of giving the driveway some time to dry out. I dodged rain showers on the last half of the trip, but the driveway was mostly dry and didn't have any problems getting back down it. And was once again reminded of how well the fairing on the RT motorcycle works in even the heaviest wind and rain. I was dry as a bone and had no trouble at all keeping it in one lane.

Just as I was getting ready to leave, the nylon coil zipper down one leg of my leather riding suit split, and no amount of riding the slider up and down would heal it. Fortunately my friend had a big supply of safety pins on hand, further enhancing the Mad Max look of that outfit. So that needs to go back to Aerostich this week for repairs.

Several boxes were waiting for me when I got home, all of them soaked by the rain, but nothing inside seemed any the worse for the dampening. The Ethernet adapter for the StarLink hookup worked as promised, and I even got a reply, after three days, from their tech support about the login problem. No help, as they wanted an account number and contact info, which they could easily get from my email address that they used for the reply.

I also heard back from the engine computer rebuilder that the computer chip in the one I sent them was dead, and they couldn't fix it. But for an additional charge, they could give me a life time guarantee on another one. Sounds like a deal to me, even though I don't think that was the problem. But it will be nice to be able to rule out the computer as the cause.

Sheesh, Hump Day already. Seems like more of a Monday to me. Not sure what I'll get into, but I hear the dump truck and backhoe going, so I better get out there and see what's up.

67°F and .27 inches rain.

Sophie’s turn to visit her ophthalmologist this afternoon for a follow up. Hoping for good news.

Maybe dry enough to get some mowing in this morning. Maybe.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Seem Dads girlfriend got lost in Istanbul airport, then they tried to meet the cruise ship at another port. . . .
My dad seemed to mess up every single step of the process, I think he needs less complicated trips from now on.
Our 55+ neighborhood has a lot of trips all around the world. The most you have to navigate is to the neighborhood pavilion and park your car. The bus meets you there and takes you to the cruise port or to the airport and everyone goes as a group. Not much of a chance to get lost. Of course you have to be able to find the bus when they stop for a break at Buc-ee's.

Maybe next time he can find a travel agency's group. How old is he?

Good afternoon! 86˚F partly cloudy.

Yesterday turned into a very physical day when I got a call from the trail group wanting to move (hand load and hand unload) several trailers of mulch on the trail, starting at 3:30 pm. Just hot and dusty. Still sore when the mens pilates class started this morning. The instructor was trying to get me to do the stretches right but oh ow.

Helo do you have what we call "Nonalcoholic Steatohepatitis" or something different. Whatever it is I hope the Drs. find a way to correct it.

He is 85 and gets lost very easily, and that's not something new. He got lost on his way to my house, again.
They don't move or socialize much and that is not helping.
His Girlfriend is a heavy drinker and does not move much or like people.

They were as much mentally and physically unprepared as anything else. They just needed to stay together and ask for help around the airport. They didn't until it was too late and made so many bad choices.

He is so far away from both my brother and I and that worries us.
His brother is 4 years older and more with it, but he is no spring chicken and just went through a botched and then fixed hip replacement. That is my only relative out there. My wifes CA relatives are farther north and have their own issues to deal with.

I think he needs a more "guided" tour like you mention as he needs to be shepherded around.

This trip was too complex for them. They landed here with a dead cell phone, did not remember how to use GPS, forgot to check flights, the list of misses is long, and they messed up 100% of the requirements to make this trip.

To make it all the way to Istanbul and then get lost in the terminal? I have been at that airport, Most signs are in English and we found the locals friendly enough, as hospitality in Turkey is considered a must in their culture.
Sorry to rant, but this really has me worried. The outcome could have been worse....

Gladly he is safe at home and resting.
