2280 john deere diesel windrower

Howdy guys im looking at getting a 2280 john deere diesel windrower. Im curious is it a good machine?? I want something realiable we do a good bit of hay and are needing a windrower and want to start off with somthing cheaper. thanks

When I was younger I ran a JD 3430 swather for another farmer. I thought it was a nice machine.

I owned a similar NH 1499 Haybine swather I ran for many years and cut many square miles of hay with. I really liked it, but it plugged like any sickle cut/conditioner machine.

I’d recommend a disc mower, IF you can swing it. Much faster and less plugging.

I never had much luck cutting lodged grass with a haybine. It was much easier to cut with a discbine.
A haybine clogs much faster in heavy grass crop

Thanks this year It was super thick I could hardly even cut anything 6 to 8 tons per acre
