Not sure how we got off on this tangent but... any of you guys ever see or use the European quick hitch which is triangular in basic shape? It is like 2 pieces of C-channel on the implement (like a triangle with the bottom piece missing) and a full 3 sided triangle on the FEL that is centered on the loader. The Triangle is male and the implement socket is female. Roughly 2' on each edge as I recall. I saw them in Austria in 2000 and was amazed how simple and easy they hook up. Self centering. Once you raise the FEL triangle vertically into the twin C-channel socket on the implement all you do is put in a pin (or 2?) and you are hooked up.

What is the name for that system? Is it still in use? Any in the USA ?
That would be used on the 3 pt both front and back, not the loader. Although, maybe the one you saw was someone that adapted it to the loader? That could be a possibility too.

It's called A frame quick hitch. That quick hitch is used more on specific countries. It depends on the implement manufacturer to build the implements with this type of hitch in mind, which not all do.

On the loader, we just use the Euro quick attach. Simply and easy to use. Stronger, yet lighter. Most will actually auto latch once the attachment sits in. A lot safer than the SSQA, I mean, even if you forget to lock the attachment, you will still have an hard time to make it pop out of the quick hitch. On the SSQA, the attachment will pop out if you look at it the wrong way.

The Euro Global quick attach is a much more robust and easier to use system, then the SSQA ever thought of being.

Yes!
I have both and prefer the Euro quick attach. I have hydraulic pins and you can attach/detach from cab.
The Euro 3 point links are also better/easier.

PTSG -- somehow I knew you would be the one to answer this one for me. So it is called an "A-frame quick hitch" which makes quite a lot of sense. I was fascinated watching it in use over in Austria that time. Thanks.

The A frame or inverted hitch has been around for quite awhile actually it has just never caught on.
There is even one that has a self contained pto self connecting PTO set up.
Jiffy Hitch Systems, Inc.

And as far as the ball and hook on the 3 point I know that Oliver, Ford and even John Deere offered it as an option
back in the early and mid 60's for the 3 points.

Just adding a useful tip… grease the pins from time to time so you’re not fighting the friction as well.

…and yeah, the “A” frame can be appealing. I always kept a basic ball triangle hitch that’s attached to the tractor just to keep my lift arms tidy. While building a ballast box, I sorta incorporated it into the design and now it’s part of the ballast box that makes hooking it up and dropping it from the seat a breeze.

your torque tube on the loader side looks like it has been replaced (rusted square tube) perhaps the bucket and ssqa tractor side are the ones that are twisted and the bale spear is the straight one.
Agree....look at the 3rd picture as it looks like it was rewelded.

These are amazing hooking up the PTO as well as the implement! There are a few drawbacks (price, extending the implement back further from the tractor, having to cut or get new PTO drive shafts, etc.) Still incredible invention; see the videos.

Anyone know if the old simple non-PTO hardware is still made by Jiffy Hitch? Good example of simple A-frame , self centering quick hitch.
