JB Weld, Steel Stick Or Similar to Seal Very Minor Propane Leak?

Well...it's like everything nowadays...two divided groups. 1) pay the gas company $1K to fix it or 2) do yourself for $15 in 15 minutes.
There's a difference between "fixing" and "gumpin"... the latter a term used long before the movie.
JB Weld is good for many things. A gas leak is not one of them. Also, there's no such thing as a "very minor propane leak"... either it's a leak or it isn't.

Turn it off take it apart tape it and dope it. These guys are making a huge project out of this. I have done industrial hvac for 25 years I would send a first year kid to fix that leak in a heartbeat unless it’s a thousand foot line your going to lose at most a few bucks of gas
+1. Been there done that. No big issue. Just DONT use jb weld

I have a very minor leak at the point of the red arrow. Just barely bubbles with leak liquid. Odor is very faint. Supply line/tank is to the right of the picture. This is the high pressure side before the second stage regulator feeding the house.

Obviously, the best way is to tighten that coupling, but that means breaking the union which means shutting the gas off and letting air in the line which will need to be purged. If JB Quick, Steel Stick or some similar fast setting epoxy type product will seal it, I could avoid all of that. Fittings are 3/4" Black Iron Pipe ( once I wire brush the pain off ). But even if they seal initially, will they hold up to LP over time?

I count 5 visible threads at the red arrow where you say it is leaking vs 4 on the other side. Was this cross threaded when it was first installed or do you think it is isn't cross theaded, but it didn't get tightened enough for some reason? Did you use pipe sealant rated for propane on all the fittings for the entire line?

Prrsonally, id just crack the union and try to tighten the union fitting to nipple first, then retighten union. Wouldnt even need to bleed it off. would not hurt to try.

Don't listen to him. I'm sure that you know better yet some people don't.
Just look at the warning labels on your lawn mower, if you don't believe me.

They DO weld on active pipelines, but those guys are pros and everything is controlled.

Spring of 2021, my neighbors house blew up due to a propane leak. It was a horrendous blast felt miles away.

Neighbor has been rebuilding but still has not moved in due to various delays in construction. He will be moving back in soon but without his wife. She perished in the blast.

Fix it right and get the whole system inspected and certified.

There's "no"s and there's "no )&$)*&%)@*(&^ way". JB weld is the latter in this particular instance.

As others have said, the cost and time involved in doing this correctly are nothing compared to the potential damage from doing it the wrong way.
