Gasoline Tractors are they coming Back ?

I’ve been burning road diesel in my equipment all summer because it’s been cheaper than red. There’s only one supplier in town for red is the only reason I see for it. But I’ve never seen red diesel at $1.50 cheaper than road fuel. It’s usually 50-60 cents cheaper. If you had a farm card the difference might be a little more. But us construction guys still have to pay sales tax on red fuel.

We have a couple places selling off road for 50-75 cheaper than taxed diesel. They are somewhat convenient in that I drive by them, so a special trip isn’t usually necessary.

I didn’t know construction equipment was required to burn taxed fuel? I always burned off road in my backhoe.

One thought for hand cranking the engine - adapt the crank to use a battery powered tool.
Can you do this? Would the engine kick back when it starts?

You can buy a 40HP Briggs Vanguard EFI engine in many high end commercial mowers and it makes more horsepower and more torque than say a 25hp diesel small tractor. Why not?
The fuel efficiency isn't anywhere near that of a diesel. This isn't complex stuff to understand. Diesel has more energy and a higher compression ratio. Plus I can tell you from running a commercial mowing business that gas engines just don't hold up like the diesel

With the high prices of diesel fuel , & possible shortages looming are manufactures considering bringing back gasoline engines that have become more efficient than the ones from 50 to 60 years ago ! & the EV tractors are starting prove themselves not reliable in extreme weather conditions , & the power grid is not there in rural areas & not to mention operating cost ! The diesel engine is still the most efficient as far as fuel consumption , But having to meet stronger emission standards allot of owners are not happy with the regens & having to run def in there tractor of 25 HP or more which adds more to operating cost & efficiency ! In summary would you consider buying a new gasoline engine tractor instead of a EV tractor ! Or as a substitute for a diesel if they were available ? Just a thought  .
I have been predicting the return of gasoline engines to the small/mid sized tractor market for several years.

The federales have seriously damaged the light truck diesel market as well as the farm tractor market with nonsensical regulations and will continue to do so.

Presently, the opportunity exists for application of modern gasoline powered engines to small and mid sized agricultural applications.

Sadly, any such innovation will not be done in the US and may not be done for the US market because the investment into design and development of such machines can be rendered valueless overnight by an unelected, cube-dwelling bureaucrat in DC.

Of course, should gasoline powered farm tractors become a trend, relentless federales will quickly regulate such into obscurity.

No hotter than a regenerating DPF.

There was a time when diesels were the simplest motors. They were entirely mechanical without any electrical systems or carburetors. Gas engines were better at just about everything else, and much less expensive because of the lower compression ratio.
I liked the gasoline industrial engines. They ran wonderfully smoothly at low RPM and started easily. Easy to maintain and rebuild. Lasted just as long as diesels. A much quieter engine and easy to control emissions.
I don't see any great advantage to today's diesels. For most things, the gasoline engines do better.

Well said.

Small, turbo'd gas motors might work well.

They'd LOVE to make us drive electric tractors. Not going to happen (to me anyway)!

I can agree with your later parts, however I disagree with your first point. People want to compare a diesel engine to a gas engine designed for two completely different applications.

Would love to see actual facts and statistics. Believe me, JD, Kubota, CNHI, Bobcat, LS, kioti, all the major brands have stuck with diesel. If they thought gas was within reach or made sense, they would have considered it. But they haven't. It's all opinion on here.
