What? This can't be so, can it? I recently saw a tractor filter made in India or maybe Pakistan.

It says car filters but a lot of guys shop for crossover deals for tractors and the cheapest price so who knows what you get?
Those are most likely for local use. There are a lot of fascinating YouTube vids showing raw-labor manufacturing of products such as nuts/bolts, engine blocks, stoves, motors, etc.
If you’ve watched the above video, now watch the following one showing filters made in a Fram factory. The steps are the same, the process is different. Although I don’t recall seeing “sealant” being applied to guard against leakage in the Pakistan process.

The worst service I've had from oil filters is Fram. I wouldn't run them if they were free. Saw two come apart inside and suck the filter element thru the oil pump. When you tear the engine down it looks like a mouse has built a nest throughout the entire engine.

If you research it seems AC Delco has the best or almost best reputation. Wix also fairs well.
I've given up on Fram. I wonder if the high end ones are any better? AC Delco I can get but Fix is hard to find unless I get the NAPA numbered one.

For tractors, I go with OEM only. Is that wrong?

NAPA & Wix are good.

The following is a filter cross reference that I use quite a bit. Use discretion…..

I put some faith in OEM. I use OEM when dealing with the road grader. It's under warranty and I try to not give the manufacturer an "out" if anything goes wrong. Use OEM engine oil.

Some pretty interesting YouTube videos on comparing filters:

I use AC Delco on my Yukon, Wix on my mower and just bought a new Tacoma and will use a Toyota filter (made by Denso) until the warranty is over. I noticed that a Toyota OEM filter was almost half the price of a Wix. But it’s hard for me to believe Toyota would use crappy filters on their products. Never used Fram, but I know folks that swear by them. Oh well, to each, his own.

I’ve been buying NAPA Gold filters for several years. I used to use Fram but starting seeing bad press about them and realized they were junk. I’m not sure what I’m paying for the NAPA filter but around $14 after tax
