Buying Advice on Hydraulic links

Do tell? Why? One for up/down, one for side to side....do I need one for paint the fence?

The T494 is already set up for the 3rd function, so you don't lose one if you jury rig it..

What am I missing?
Well, to go with your silly comment, maybe one for washing the tractor.

Sorry, I'm serious. Why the 3rd remote?
I have TnT and I also have a BB with hydraulic scarifiers.

I also have a 15' batwing brush cutter with individually folding wings. I unhook my TnT and use all three remotes operating the brush cutter.

Usually owners with TnT use a Quick Hitch. If so, it leaves a third remote open. In my case I have that setup and when I use my wheeled tandem disc I don't have to unhook one of the TnT cylinders to free up a remote.

Your use may vary.

One for tilt
One for top link
One for side shift? Or run a longer hose to a front grapple. Or use for log splitter without disconnecting box blade
Thanks. I haven't seen a side shift on a box blade, but I haven't looked for one either. The grapple can use the 3rd function that is already plumbed.

I'll never have or need some of the cool stuff @ovrszd has. A 6' brush cutter is plenty for the few acres that are not forest.

I may have to think on the log splitter, though. They are not fast, but I'm not getting younger. The Mrs. may be able to use a splitter. In the short term, I have a splitting maul and an axe that will work. Fortunately, firewood will be for ambiance more than heat.

I mean the HYD top link. Of course it has a standard top link. I won’t wait 30 weeks for a HYD top link when others can ship tomorrow.

And I meant that the hydraulic top link is a standard part and easy to find. My writing was not clear.
It's the hydraulic tilt link that's specific to each tractor model.

Why the 3rd remote?
For whatever you 'd use a remote for, since the first two are being used by the top and tilt.

I had the dealer added third remote with the idea of using it for a side shift flail mower. I never bought the mower but I am using it to run a grapple. It's not as convenient as a 3rd function with switches on the joystick but it's right behind the joystick on the fender so it's not much of a hand movement to use it.

Branson's factory remote can only fit two spools but some manufactrers like Kubota can fit three. It's cheaper to spec the remotes with the tractor than to buy them later on.

A vary common setup requiring 4 rear remotes would be a top & tilt set with a hydraulic rear blade that has blade angle and offset as hydraulic features.
You can only see the blade angle cylinder, but the boom offset cylinder is on the other side.
All these hydraulic options are not for everyone, they simply don't need or would use them. But when-if you need them, they sure are nice to have. (y)

I just enjoy the options having hydraulics provides. I went from none, to dual, and now I'd opt for more if I could make the purchase over again. Easier to toss it in with the financing. 🤣

Some tractors, well, most tractors 50hp or smaller aren't offered with 3. Not sure about yours. If offered, get it.

That's where I'm getting down to brass tacks.

The T494 comes standard with 2 sets. The 4820 says you can have up to 4 sets (optional). I reckon you can add more to the T494, too. I'm also not sure what type are 'standard'. I'd rather get what I need at purchase time as none of them are close by.

The two models are similar, but each has pros and cons. Same dealers either way.

A hydraulic remote multiplier looks to be a handy way to add remotes beyond factory options. It's basically an electric diverter valve.

I use a diverter on my LP rear blade. Very cheap multiplier.

Sorry, I'm serious. Why the 3rd remote?
I need 4 remotes with some implements. My offset flail ditch mower, for example, requires 2 and the T&T needs 2. I have 3 on the rear of my L6060 HSTC and use the 3rd function valve as a 4th. It's tough to mess around with diverter / multiplier valves with a cabbed tractor unless they are electrically actuated.

Such as the one used in the photo. This customer had a single rear remote and needed 3 sets of couplers.

A double diverter took care of his needs.(y)

I measured up the top link on the 4820 at mid extension… so... everything level at the ground. I sits at 25” center to center. Looks like a 20”-30” link will be right in the ballpark, and I saw one on Amazon this week

If possible, check to see if you can find one with a 2 1/2" dia cylinder and maybe even a 1 1/2" dia rod.
This would be ideal. I've seen my share of 2" units on these size tractors not hold up.
Just an FYI.

I'm going to agree on 3 remotes if it is an option... @ovrszd & @MtnViewRanch (& others) have pointed out good reasons for them... Our NH TC40D had one rear remote when we purchased it used... I added 2 additional rear remotes & a front mounted diverter valve & now would not want to be without. Front diverter valve operates the grapple or the tree / post puller, two remotes dedicated to the TnT purchased from Brian @ Fit Rite (MtnViewRanch) & the third is used with the wood chipper, the back blade or the snow blower... I do think I need to add check valves to the top & tilt cylinder as they seem to not stay under load (but not sure the correct way to do it yet)... however I like being able to leave the TnT connected & still having the 3rd remote available for implements...
