I was asked by one of my customers to pull out about 1,000 feet of old split rail.

The best tool for this is a bale spear for the uprights and better yet a 2 or 3 spear bale spear for carrying the rails, to your pile.

First the rails.

With the Rails stacked, next is the posts.
Just spear the hole and lift the loader.

Once they're all pulled, then hang them on the spears.

The multiple spears is great for carrying dozens of them…. and a few broken ones.

All piled up and job done

Nice job!
I ripped out my fence a few years ago, but did not have the advantage of a bale spear. I handled the rails with pallet forks just fine, but had to use a tow strap and girth hitch to pull the posts.
It was still easier than putting in the new fence!

Meh, that's no fun. My neighbor likes to do it by getting too close with the wheel of his ancient haybine...it's his fence recycling program lol

Now you can sell it to 're-purposers' for 100 a board. Posts can be bird houses. Rails will make somebody a 'Nice ?' living room wall sculpture covering.

My old tractor had a 4 way or clamshell bucket. We used that bucket to clamp down on the posts and pull many many T posts when replacing field fencing.

Was that a Terex backhoe?

That was a Terex 640B skiploader I had here for about 15 yrs.
Everything Terex is big and heavy.
