2001 kubota bx1880
HELLO<, I have a 2003 kubota 1800 bx, deisel, I did a bonehead thing today, I put a qt of engine oil in my hydaulic tank. Will it be o.k if I just change the hydraulic fluid and filter, I did run it for 2-3 minutes after I added the engine oil,, (stupid).. I was told that motor oil won't hurt it. Is this true? ANYBODY??

Likely ok as is. But changing filter and fluid won’t hurt anything other than your wallet.

A quart is nothing in whatever many gallons the tractors holds. It won't hurt a thing.

I wouldn’t even change the fluid. A quart is pretty low dilution in the hydraulic system and motor oil wouldn’t hurt the hydraulics anyway.

I would not worry about it at all. Some machines use motor oil instead of hydraulic oil. Motor oil is a better grade of oil. Hydraulic oil is cheaper.

The OP’s machine is a Kubota BX1800 has both wet brakes and an HST. The recommended fluid is Kubota UDT or Super UDT. They are not a cheaper grade of oil.

It only costs more because Kubota oil doesn't foam. Which doesn't matter on a tractor. Now, a skid steer with a mulcher and high flow hydraulics is a different story. It needs a non foaming fluid.

There are many reason other than not foaming that requires high quality hydraulic fluid. HSTs and wet brakes are far more unforgiving than simple geared machines.

If I had a nickel for every Kubota I've worked on, I'd be rich.

In all my Kubota's I've never used UDT or SUDT and I've owner at least 10 and bought them all (except one) new. I do use their filters and OEM parts but the fluid is over rated and too expensive.
