How did you meet your better half?

As a 30 year old man in the current commodification heckscape that is modern dating apps, I always found these stories interesting. For example:

My paternal grandfather met my grandmother on a blind date because he had a car, apparently she was pretty standoffish to him at first because she didn't really want to be there, but she warmed up to him.

My father was asleep on the couch when my mother saw him for the first time, he had been lifeguarding at a local lake and was catching some Zs when she stopped by with her cousin to visit my aunt. (Their first date, they went canoeing and he flipped the canoe but that's another story.)

I was working the night shift at Walmart and a friend came in with a friend; well that friend of a friend brought her friend. It was a bit of an odd meeting and not long after I left for the Army. When I came home on leave we started dating; I left for Korea, and we married when I returned. Never really dated, so that kind of made the first few years difficult, but it's been more than worth it in the end.

I met my wife online in November 2005. After chatting online with her for a year, I flew to the Philippines to meet her in person in November 2006. I proposed marriage and she accepted. We applied for a K1 (fiancé) visa and she arrived in the US in July 2007. We were married that September and have been happily married since. I put her through nursing school and she works for the VA now. Our 11 year old just started 6th grade yesterday

I was a volunteer fire fighter and saved her from a smoke filled building. Not really. We met through friends.

I was rehabbing a rope horse that acquired an uneven way of moving after a full recovery.
Best friend suggested an equine chiropractor look at him - with pretty blue eyes (wink wink)
I made an appointment and another and, she fixed him. The rest was history... the horse, well I sold him to her aunt who used him until his rip old age for the forestry dept. patrols packing a little old lady up and down the mountain trails. He was sound and loved not roping for a living anymore. He may have gotten the better of the deal - lol.

My wife and I went to middle and high school together. We took a lot of the same classes together as there were only 59 people in our graduating class. She baby sat my little brother frequently and my dad thought she was great. However, we didn't see eye to eye on too many things and tried to avoid one another for most of our school years. She had lots of hidden stuff going on at home that made her seem cool and haughty and I had other interests at the time.

Then, about halfway through our senior year, our mutual friend started working on each of us individually and we wound up hanging out more. I fixed her car stereo and would pick up the aforementioned little brother from the daycare where she worked and we'd talk for a while. That turned into walks in the park and feeding the ducks at the pond. This went on for three or four months until prom was close at hand. I asked her if she'd like to go and she agreed.

A year later we were married and five days later I joined the Navy. The following year we had our first son (of five). That was 36 years ago. I thank God every day for her.

She was 15 and I was 16. Both working at Dairy Queen and going to the same high school. We didn't start dating for 2 more years (August 29, 1979). Dated for 6 years. We'll have been married for 38 years come September.

Got a call from my old HS friend, who was now living about 2 hrs away. Went to visit him that weekend, and met my wife at church, talked to her at church picnic afterwards, went on date that afternoon. I visited about every weekend that summer, till she went off to college in Nashvile that fall. We talked long distance, saw her at Christmas break, and then continued dating the next summer. She transfered to local college after that.

Now my son has had a hard time finding a good girl to date. So glad I'm not having to go thru that. Seems so many girls today have commitment issues.
