If it has the can type solenoid on the starter, and it's doing the "click,click, etc 50 or 60 times then starts" routine, you can take it apart, carefully tap out the square head copper bolts in the bakelite end, clean them, and the plunger on a wire wheel and reassemble with the new sections of the bolt heads facing inward.
