New Kubota Corrosion

Check your electrical connections. Maybe a bad connection is causing galvanic corrosion?
Finally, someone that knows what they are talking about. I was hoping that this post would go on forever before that knowledge was revealed. Love having the answer and seeing all the pot shots and arguments when know body actually knows. Very few people know of this problem, but I've delt with this a few times even on some aluminum boats as well. Bad connections and a bad battery will cause this to happen.

Dave5 and stripeblue12 Get a new battery, check and clean all your connections.

We're on our 3rd Kubota tractor, the first being a 20 y/o sub compact 2230 that spent the first ten years in NY where we use salt on everything. The little guy was garage parked there and barn parked here and has been used for everything from snow plowing to manure management. We have no corrosion on any fittings or elsewhere for that matter. Our M70/60 is 5 y/o with 1100 hrs, always barn parked and used for all sorts of farm activities. Again, no corrosion. The made in China parts concern me. I'm not clear when Kubota started to use Chinese manufactured junk on their machines but that could be the problem. I read the other responses herein but your tractor is barely broken in and unless you are washing it in salt water I see no reason for this level of corrosion. What does your dealer say?

Bad connections and a bad battery will cause this to happen.

Very True, However the change From yellow Zinc Cadmium Plating to more ecology safe coatings is a minus in corrosion protection.

Perhaps but this machine is almost new with less than 100 hrs. Troubling

I am also curious about using ACF-50 for general use. Although they state that it isn’t harmful on rubber surfaces, I’m a bit concerned about overspray on rubber hydraulic lines and/or seepage/infiltration into gaskets/o-rings.

Anyone have experience with this product in regards to my unfamiliarity?

I would wash throughly with purple simple green to remove any salt. CorrosionX is my spray lube and protector of choice.

Using CorrosionX on PTO couplers, splines and shafts make connecting so much easier than using grease.

I'll be keeping a close eye on my Kubota 4160 baler that was delivered a few weeks ago. Also barn parked but it was outdoors at the dealer.

Hello All, I have been reading a learning a ton on this site. Thank you to all who contribute.

I have a 1 year old Kubota 4760, 2022 model delivered in May of 2023. I am appauled by the corrosion on all the silver plated hardware. The tractor has 55 hours on it, and is kept either in my garage or under a 3-sided barn, it does not see the rain/snow. It stays on my property and gets washed a few times a year. I live in southern New Hampshire, not by the beach. It appears that just condensation has corroded every single plated fitting/hardware item. I have a BH92 on this as well, and all the silver connectors, even hose clamps, are corroded. Am I just expecting too much?

Some of the fittings say China right on them. I'm dissapointed and will now go and try to steelwool/oil all the parts, but what a waste of time. Here are pictures of the hydro connections for the FEL, under the cab and for 3rd funtion valve. I took these pictures a few weeks ago, on a warm morning. You can see some droplets from the humid air on the cold metal. Notice on the middle picture on the cab, some connections have zero corrosion, but most have the oxidation. I really expected more for the money spent on this. Any thoughts or insite? Thanks!

It looks like hard water corrosion, I live in southern New Mexico, a desert, our water is "hard" and fittings look like yours after several washings.

Good chance it sat, disassembled, on the deck of the ship that brought it in. Or it could just be that Kubota buys their hardware from some less than stellar supplier in Chinal.

Yo Dave
I be got a 5 yr old mx5200 with 800hrs
Its in central Ky, mostly in the barn but it’s spent some time in the rain as well
I also have (2) ZD1211….. 60” and 72” decks
I have nothing on any of my fittings that resemble that
The only thing Ive seen cause a reaction like that is when some tools , saw blades , tool boxes etc were left in our pool pump filter room where there was also chlorine tablets stored…I’m assuming that’s called “oxidation”
Any chlorine nearby?
Yeah with 55 hrs I would think kubota would do something for you
That is, if you eliminate anything you might have accidentally exposed it to. Also like someone else mentioned,
whenever I think about it , I wipe down all my fittings with a little wd40…or spread a little extra grease on them
At 55 hrs though I don’t see that being anything that could have prevented your problem .
Bad Chinese run of fittings?
Chlorine nearby ?

Good luck man
