Check transmission / hydraulic fluid level YM 3110D

I guess I have three questions:

What gear and shuttle shift position should it be in when I check fluid?
Should it be running or not running when I check the fluid level?
If running, at what RPM?

Engine off, doesn't matter what gear.

Fluid should be clear oil almost transparent. Definitely not milky or foamy.

Photo shows Tractor Supply's UTF swapped out after 10 years in the YM240 (simple gear transmission, not Powershift). Nothing has settled out in the couple of years that I've saved this sample, the text I set it on isn't obscured. Looks to me that this could have been left in service even longer. But only for a gear transmission. Powershift deserves more frequent fresh fluid.

The Hyd. YM2000 pan looked like a Vanilla milk shake. The Bottom was as thick as Crisco in a can. had to scrape it out though the Filter tube.I'm in the high 900 tac. Hrs. so it's due to get changed again. This time I hope that's what it looks like! Pretty sure it will.
