2015 John Deere 5075

I changed the hydraulic fluid & filter in a 5093E with 700hrs & fluid was clean as a pin with very little contamination on the screen filter.

Overkill imo less than 7-800hrs

JD recommends changing the fluid after the first 300 hours, then I think every 600 hours. Obviously it was an issue for me, and I was told by the mechanics at JD that screen clogging is a pretty common issue that they see, and that I could either pay them to fix it, or change the fluid, and clean the screen off myself. I think I changed mine at like 220 hours, and it was maybe 150-160 hours when I started experiencing the issue. After changing it, no more squealing and whining, and it now goes F to R without kicking into neutral all the time. I mean if you've got 400+ hours and you've never changed your transmission fluid in a 10 year old tractor, it's not a bad idea if you're having transmission issues anyway. Your tractor's good and broken in by this point. You're likely going to have some metal in there from everything wearing into itself. Mine absolutely did. But do as you will I guess.

I understood the first screen cleaning to be a time to catch the filings and debris from the manufacturing process of all the parts and after the first 50 hours not as necessary.
My 4300 first screening was around 100 hours and the screen was not completely plugged, but had plenty of steel and other filings. The next two screen cleanings were after 500 hours and the screen was quite free of any of such debris.

Also have heard there is a process along the assembly lines or just prior to getting to the assembly line that parts are cleaned up much better than when my tractor was assembled in the late 90's.

Not arguing at all but I don’t see a dirty screen kicking trans into neutral.
That’s more of an electrical problem I’d think.

The only issue my 18 5075E ever gave me was my shuttle wouldn't go forward to reverse and vice versa without kicking into neutral, or using the clutch. It would also humb or squeal sometimes. Turns out the screen filter in the transmission likes to clog especially during breakin, and changing the trans/hydraulic fluid sooner than the manual recommends is a good idea. Basically it was just restricting oil flow which was my issue. If you've not changed your trans/hydraulic fluid after 400 hour it would be a good idea. That screen inside the transmission definitely picks up a lot of trash, and debre.

It's located behind this cover by the PTO shaft.

Interesting looking screen and location, by any chance do you also have a similar 2 or 3 bolt cover under the rear housing?
The reason I ask is that I have heard that JD used the Branson rear and transmission in some of it's 5000 series tractor. That looks just like the screen in my rear housing that feeds the shuttle clutches of the transmission. And I also have a magnetic plug in the bottom of the housing.

I think it was an issue with improper flow is all I can guess. It would shuttle if I was going slow, and babied the F to R or vice versa, and not just quick throws, but during normal operation it would kick the neutral. The high pitched whine was worse than not shuttling, as I could use the clutch when going between F and R and it would work. The loud whine wouod start and usually last 20-30 minutes, then go away for a while, and then start up again. I have a video of it on my phone, but can you post video on here off your phone without uploading to a host site?

I'm not sure off the top of my head. I thought Deere introduced the power shuttle transmission in this class of tractor with the 5X10 series back in the late 90's, maybe 99 I think? I think Deere was the original ones to introduce it in this class, but I can't guarantee that. I assume it was the same basic transmission used today, as it was a 12x12 shuttle with 3 ranges and 4 gears, but again I can't say that for certain.

Did you check Trans fluid level? We need to get back to basics on everything.
