Taken here yesterday. Might have got a foot of new snow and it was a high quality type.
I'm not sure where Houghton lake is. This thread is about Keweenaw Lake effect snow.A close friend had a place on Houghton lake a few years back. We went up every winter for to snowmobile and for the little winter festival they did on the ice. Did the Polar Bear dive once. Rode atvs around there a few times in the summer also. They sold that place and are now on Burt lake. Only rode there 2 times. Most of my time in Michigan is spent at my cabin in the UP.
Houghton Lake is in the lower. Then I am mistaken. Are you in the UP?
Arly, it’s like you go out in that stuff voluntarily.![]()
We dive in snow for months on end. We only buy awd or 4wd vehicles and get another set of rims for snow tires. No big deal for us. Old pic of a hill near our house.Beautiful eye candy...very much enjoy seeing the "snow in the woods" scenes rather than the "snow on the road" pictures!
That might actually be at the core of the seeming dichotomy...
Hiking, skiing and snow shoeing out in nature by choice is still relaxing and enjoyable.
But the necessity of driving in those same conditions - not so much anymore...
Mom's first advice when teaching me to drive....It's not me I'm worried about while snow driving...it's protecting yourself from "The OTHERS"!![]()
