What Happened to being able to get small parts?

Quite possible... the best deals were utility equipment like dump trucks and backhoes and generators from hospitals and such.

A friend had quite a lucrative business buying well maintained industrial and hospital generators and reselling worldwide with many going to South America and Pacific Islands.

1995 is when I opened our current facility and so far I've been able to extend the operating permit for the Genset each year... but the air district has said it's days are numbered... the portable trailer rigs not tied to hospitals have had no such luck.

We do have laws saying they can't be old...

So much older diesel power can no longer be used on job sites or ports and others like gas brush cutters are outlawed unless the new electric powered.
Well, that's right. I forgot. There's the rest of the world, and then there is California.

Seriously, I hope California's policies do work. The rest of the country needs a state willing to experiment. And maybe it is true; maybe putting enough regulations on working people will offset the state's industry-based problems.

but I don't think so.....

I bought an amazing New Holland 4wd LB115 backhoe from California about 20 years ago with at least 5 buckets and a plate compactor for about 20k. Guy had to sell because of new emissions regs.

IMHO "JURY RIG" is the name of
the game now. You don't find many people in parts departments that have any common sense or knowledge. I try to find new equipment that have parts that I could use for repair.
