Tractor Hours/Year

My 3 Cockshutt haying tractors do between 50 to a hundred hrs each on 300 acre hayland.
my 2 Belarus feeding tractors run around 500 hrs a year winter feeding and silage bale gathering/loading and wrapping. Then i have a couple other wheel loaders and a trackloader that i use whenever there is a need for for dirt work brush mowing and mulching and snow plowing, the hrs vary from year to year, i don't keep track. My big JD 8650 gets maybe 40 hrs a year if that. i have a couple other smaller hp tractors that get a bit of use from time to time if need be. I hate pulling pins so most of the tractors stay hooked up to their dedicated piece equipment year round.lol
The hrs on all of them vary from a 2000 to 30.000+ hrs, some are 50 yrs old, the newest is 20 yrs.

Am I reading that right, 30k hours? You have to post a picture of that machine. Anything that helped out a family that much should get a memorial!

I suspect there is a huge swing between people who are using their tractor in connection with some business as compared to those using it for personal use.

My use is personal, not connected with any commercial endeavors. My highest year on my 2001 NH TC33D was about 250 hours. A typical year is closer to 100. I have had the occasional year where it was below 50 (the year we had an incredibly wet spring/summer/fall: too wet to get into the woods without tearing up most of my trails, followed by cracking the clutch housing doing some logging in the winter.)

Things have tapered off in more recent years, as much of main projects on my property have been completed, and I've not spent as much time on firewood and TSI or wildlife habitat activities as in the past.

This "winter" has saved lots of hours on my tractors.

Normally about half their annual time is spent on snow removal, but since we still haven't got any...

Bought my Kubota L3130 with 2000 hours on it in 2017, just hit 2200 this winter. It has cab, heat, loader and back blade. Only average less than 30 hours a year, but as others have said, feels like it should be more. Every one of those hours have been great though. Whether clearing snow or filling holes in my almost 1/4 mile long driveway, or pushing leaves deeper into the woods behind my house after vacuuming and dumping them. Have used forks and a pallet to haul tree trimmings, done some landscaping, and lifted bundles of shingles to the roof of my garage when replacing it. I used to use a 48" snowblower on craftsman garden tractor to do snow, what a nightmare. Even though the winters have been pretty tame since I got the tractor it is still worth every penny. Make just about any excuse to pull it out of the garage, so I am probably forgetting other things it has come in handy for.

The first 5 years on my XR4150H was right at 500 hours. Now that I'm retired, I'm doing about 125 per month. Those new tractor warranties sound pretty good at 5 to 6 years until you realize that you haven't even broken in the engine when the warranty expires. My tractor spun the rod bearing on cylinder #3 on 1/2/2024. The tractor had 1250 hours on it. It took the better part of 9 months, and $10,000, to get a new short block installed and 4 injectors replaced. That's right, one of the new injectors injectors caused the engine to lope at idle.
My advise when you have a new tractor...
Run it like you stole it. Get as many hours on it as possible. It may sound crazy, but you want to shake out any weakness while the warranty is still in effect.

Ever wonder how many hours per year people put on their tractors?
Ours are used mostly for small chores, snow, & landscaping - we don't do anymore mowing or field work.
The newish Kubota's hour meter averages almost 100 hrs/year since 2008. The old one less than 50/year.
It sure seems like more than that.....

I’ve had my Mahindra Max-24 for 5 years since new, and only put on 60 hours a year. Used mostly for Wisconsin snow removal and various projects around our home/property. Not much, but a life saver when needed.

MF1734, personnal use, average of 100hours a year. This seems to be the average for personal use.

I have a 2006 New Holland TZ24. I bought it with a rear blade to remove snow from my driveway and mow the steep hill in the summer. I just sent it to the shop with an oil leak. It has 700 hours. Most of them were put on in the first 5 years. Runs strong, always starts right up and I do the maintenance every year. I bought it all for $12,000.00 with a Zero Percent loan. I look back now and think what a bargain it was.
