It fans out but here are a couple… on a typical non holiday Monday it would be full. It was last paved 10 years ago and then I had it paved 20 before that.

I agree and would be good… the on boarding was a written offer of employment and negotiated but really isn’t binding simply because positions can be easily eliminated… unless tied to union collective bargaining.

I don't know if Oakland PD has on line incident reports available like Nashville PD does. If they do, those along with your private security reports would help support your case for security fencing if that is something worth pursing.

I HATE when people paint wood and bricks. Breaks my heart, there is essentially no going back from that. Putting the finishing touches on an addition/remodel of our house. Our mud room is done in a pickwick knotty pine tongue and groove with a darkish finish. We LOVE it but so many people tried to get me to rip it out or paint over it. We left what we could of it, had to add drywall to one of the walls which is nice because it lightened the mood of the room.
We will be installing ash base and door/window trim. Solid wood oak and black walnut floating shelves. Pine tongue and groove ceilings and board and batten on the screen porch. So much of the stuff that goes into houses today is absolute CRAP. I am hoping to limit that in my house. I plan on going back and building vanities to replace the chinese junk we had to install to get through our inspections.

Noticed yesterday that one of the real estate ad sites showed permit history in addition to past sale history for residential property. So much resin is used to glue wood particles in building materials together now. Barely qualifies as wood.

It’s always tough to watch beautiful stain grade hardwood get covered up just because the current trend is “grey everything.” Honestly, those natural finishes tend to age better than the paint fads you see on HGTV. That said, if the higher-ups are set on it, the best you can do is make sure the job is done really well so it doesn’t look cheap or rushed. Sometimes you just have to roll with it, even if it hurts a little to cover up quality materials.

The painting is in process… base boards already have scuff marks on the fresh painted surface as do the walls where the institutional wall paper was removed and now painted.

My friend that does maintenance for a very long time at the college is still set to retire in December. Administration still hasn't sought out his replacement or apprentice to learn the job. Sorta don't have any sympathy for them because he gave them fair warning.

We're getting a lot of people here, that's for sure. I think that I read that the places people are moving to are the ones with no State Income Tax. Texas, Florida and Tennessee are the top three.

Before Covid, there was a steady increase in the cost of houses and land, but it was slow and even. When Covid hit, the price for land went crazy. Everyone wanted 5 acres to raise some chickens and grow a garden. I had clients put their houses on the market so they could move onto some land and then realize that the price of land had gone up too much for them to afford it.

Since then, the price per acre of land has just about tripled from what I'm seeing. My neighbor just listed his 200 acres with a 2 bedroom house for $2.7 million dollars. I think that's crazy, but with what some other places have sold for, he might get it.

10 acres with a 4 bedroom 1946 house went on the market for 4.5m and switched Realtors and had the open houses with food and music… sold for 2.7m…

Maybe the Tyler 200 acres and a home is a bargain?

There is no succession planning.

Just received SS statement and delaying to age 70 projects a $1400 monthly boost…

Maybe retire and put off collecting a few years would also boost but not known how much with several years of no income…

I have investment income which is outside of wages…

What’s 3200 a month now worth vs. 4700 at age 70?

Another year is 300 a month more… looking at it this way it’s hard to make the case…

Had surgery last week and another upcoming… really never used my health plan until now so this is another factor being the cost to replace it…

Had a new doc, and I told her I didn't like going to doctors. She was fun in her response. "You have this opportunity to max out this insurance you are on. Use it while you still can." I think she was trying to tell me something.
