If the gas tank doesn't get you, that drive shaft under it certainly will.

As far as I know it has the CP-4 pump. My first diesel was a new '82 GMC with the 6.2 diesel. 130hp and 250tq. Not a good engine, blown head gaskets and cracked heads. Traded for a new '85 F-350 with a 6.9 diesel, I think it was 135 hp and 325 tq. The diesels I had didn't start making decent power until I bought a new '99 F-350 with the 7.3 Powerstroke. My current truck has 475 hp and 1050 tq. I have an extended warranty on it and the salesman I use said I could extend it if I want to keep the truck for a while longer.
You might want to keep an eye on the CP-4
Its a glitter bomb waiting to happen

I got a recall for the windshield wipers on my 2020 F150 in January, and to this day Ford says they still have no parts or resolution to the problem. And mine just failed today.
And a friends 2021 also failed.
I first heard about that ^ problem, from the local IH truck salesman, who was driving his company F150 all over Ontario, with no wipers, Kanadian Winter.

Went to email a buddy of mine about that (lives 2 hours away fr. me) that night, did a quick search, and found there were not one, but two NTSB recalls for that wiper issue.

Not slamming on Ford (we all know the extent of this industry problem), I drive one, but when a company drops the ball on a safety item multiple times, on their top $ maker..... we are well into looney-tunes territory.

Just starting into this thread, but I expect I'm preaching@Choir...... this trainwreck/truckwreck is why some people are pouring the money into rebuilding older and old platforms, including commercial heavy. Even if you have near-unlimited funds to play with, the latest bling does you no good if it's down most of the time....

It's almost like there is a War on the Automobile.....

Toyota are apparently making a small pickup (not sold in the US) whose only ECM is for the a/c and ignition but only for timing and detonation control. I believe it has a carb. It has wind-up windows, manual transmission (I think), a radio and a USB port. Dirt cheap apparently and the reliability numbers way off the charts relative to "normal" cars.
Plenty of other vids show it, but easy ones to find (2 wheel fans) is Itchy Boots, as Noraly wanders the planet on 2 wheels.

No accident, but plenty of remote areas she transits, mostly what you see are Toy trucks, including very old ones. Sensor failure here on a Interstate (assuming somebody doesn't plow into you on the side of the road) is one thing...... 600 miles from anything, could be lethal.

I haven't seen the model you speak of, but can see that being supplied into remote markets today.

That is why I hope my 2013 F150 never dies.. 280k miles and good so far.

He has so many, we have become conditioned to expect perfection from ur..... you are certainly correct.

His 30 p/u.... it will be one of the things he owns that will still be running after a Carrington event.... (Recent Jay Leno Garage - he teaches his young Producer to drive his Model T on the street. Jay said it is one of the things he owns that always fires up, regardless how long it sits - granted, it lives in Auto Heaven on Earth.....)

Jealous in Kanada, well-done ur !

I see your point. It sucks they make it hard for us regular guys to work on our vehicles. But—-how often do you see cars broken down on the side of the road? Not near as many as back in the 70’s and 80’s.
I also don't smell oil and gas fumes all the time like before fuel injection was on everything.

My 2013 F150 stx 4x4 supercab I paid $26k plus ttl. $10k off MSRP. It has the 5.0 and 3.73 elocker. No giant touch screen. It has almost 280k miles. This is easily the best truck I have owned. The bad thing is the new ones are in the $50k plus range for what I have seen They have $10k in gadgets I don't want. Some also have cyllindar deactivation and start stop technology. Those are more useless things that are not needed that will likely shorten engine life. It really sucks when they spend thousands of $s trying get an additional 1mpg EPA rating.
