I’m beginning to despise hooking/unhooking my GN from my Ram. Crawling across diamondplate in the hot sun is painful.
A tandem axle flatbed truck is definitely in my future

I’ve been wanting to get a 5th wheel sleeve and let my gooseneck live behind my Volvo but I haven’t gotten around to ordering one and getting a light plug adapter.

It took me a while to want to get them, but now I really appreciate hydraulic jacks on trailers. Especially the Diamond C's which has a wireless remote for its jacks.

I removed the lid over the trailer ball on my bed, saving me that step, and the minimalistic bed I want to make would make everything as accessible as on a bumper pull.

I ordered my last dump trailer with a hydraulic jack and it’s nice but I still have several trailers without it.

I had to make one since they don't seem to exist for the square tube goosenecks.
Needed it to tow a trailer out of state with the 3500, then put the 3500 on the trailer for the trip back home, now pulled by a 5th wheel.

That was a temporary solution and I'll make a "receiver" for a B&W turnover ball right behind the 5th wheel. That way there's still free movement even side to side.

For the electrical side of it, the Jackalopee I used works very well.

I may just put a GN ball on the semi. That way I could still pull the trailer with the pickup if I wanted to although I doubt I’d ever want to. With the 5th wheel I could slide it in the hitch without having to crank the landing gear up and down. With air ride on the truck I could probably still do the same thing with the GN ball.

That's my plan, put a gooseneck ball right behind the 5th wheel, but it'll have to be removable not to interfere with a king pin. And with a sliding 5th wheel I can place either one right above the axle or a bit forward of it.

Not really sure why I even leave the 5th wheel on there, but since I still have two trailers for that setup it might as well stay. If nothing else, its weight helps the ride quality.

It'll be interesting to see how long it takes to learn how to stop right under the gooseneck's coupler with this new-to-me tow vehicle. I could also dump the air springs, but the two trailers that it makes sense to tow both have hydraulic jacks.

I can easily see out the Volvo back window to hook up. My 4 door pickup doesn’t offer the same ability.

Mine does. I have a 12” screen with a camera up in the headache rack. Came with the Ram.
Makes getting centered under the ball a breeze.

There’s a second camera down by the bumper pull hitch, too.

Your Ram is 3 years newer than mine. I only have the regular backup camera. A bed camera would be nice.

Put a 63 inch sleeper on it and you won't see quite as much.

Makes the 3500 crew cab seem completely transparent in comparison. Of course, I can certainly see the gooseneck ball on my bedless M1008 (2-door) very well, which is why it's the preferred yard goat.

Since there's no bed obstructing the view it also works well with bumper pulls, even if I don't.

I wouldn’t have a sleeper truck if it was free. The daycab Volvo has the best visibility out of the cab of any truck I’ve ever had.
