Kubota L5030 2004
Hi,
I have a Kubota L5030 leaking oil from right behind the front axle case. The front pinion/bevel gear area if I've done my research correctly. Is it just a seal that needs to be replaced? How involved is that repair?

Thanks

I'm no authority on that particular tractor, but having done that same repair on plenty of others I'd say it's PROBABLY a pretty straight forward project. Yes, just a seal that comes out the front. However, if I were doing it, before ordering the seal I would crawl under and try shaking the shaft a little before getting too comfortable. Make sure there is NO lateral movement in the splined shaft. No side to side, up and down, in and out type movement you can detect when trying to force the end of the shaft in any direction. The shaft should be pretty solid in that regard. It should rotate freely, yes but ANY movement in any direction indicates more than just a seal in play.

Harry I totally second that statement. The term just a seal is most of the time misleading. Most of the time complete disassembly is in order even if only the seal is leaking. And on some of my stuff if it ain’t real bad I’ll keep check on it and keep on using it.
