"AGM Car" batteries for less used tractors?

Lead/acid batteries still work just fine. AGMs are pretty much the same sort of lead/acid batteries. The only difference is the way the acid is contained between the plates in AGMs makes it easier to keep the acid and fumes inside the battery. My 2 cents says the AGM is worth the extra cost...

"AGM Car" batteries for less used tractors?

I hear you. I like the inexpensive AGMs for all of the same reasons, though I don't agree with the idea tha the plates fall over. If you look at how they are built, they cannot. Still, whatever the reason the AGMs do seem more durable against vibration and impact. Maybe the adsorbant pads...

I think you got the best tractor. Congrats We don't have a good idea which one you have without you trying it and telling us how it works. Reason for that is that there isn't clear agreement on how either one is defined. What matters is that your tractor already has something which will work...

How to Remove this Power Steering Hydraulic Hose

Yes. That's by far the best way. Unscrew the flange connections at the ends of the steel lines and the hose will bend enough so you can take the whole piece down to the hydaulic shop. There they will use high pressure crimp connectors to fasten a new piece of hose in place.

    Changing Wildlife Patterns

We used to have a lot of porcupines in the pine forests in Colorado. You could always see a few on a hike. Stump Bucket vs Mini-Ex for Shallow Digging

Of course a mini excavator would be best, but if you can't afford the excavator, consider a compromise with a backhoe attachment for your tractor. Even a small backhoe attachment will outdo the stump bucket by leagues. Don't overlook the importance of a thumb, it is very useful for the lifting...

    deere 110 tlb overheating

I think the last bad thermostat I tested was about 40 years ago. But I still do the test when looking for the cause of overheating. Most thermostats have the opening degrees stamped on the body. I use a regular kitchen candy thermometer - not an electronic - and a deep saucepan.

    Tractor Hours/Year

Ever wonder how many hours per year people put on their tractors? Ours are used mostly for small chores, snow, & landscaping - we don't do anymore mowing or field work. The newish Kubota's hour meter averages almost 100 hrs/year since 2008. The old one less than 50/year. It sure seems like more...

    Landscape Rake for Manure Collection

Well, it would do that I guess - though I've never tried it. A chain harrow pulled backwards would probably do as well or better. I think you are on the right track to borrow one and try it. I'm betting you will want one with the two gauge wheels, otherwise it stands little chance - but hey...

    LA504 Loader

Since the LA504 has quick change connectors on hoses between the loader and the control valve, I would swap the positions of the bucket and lift cylinders. That would tell you if the problem is in the cylinders/hoses, or in the FEL control valve.

    Landscape Rake for Manure Collection

Our landscape rake with gauge wheels works sort of OK in a dry paddock, corral, or round pen - but not in a grass field. It really doesn't work at all for what you are describing. Sorry.... back to the pitchfork.. rScotty

CS2410 suddenly won't start despite new battery, good fuel flow

Yepper. That tractor of yours sure sounds like what happens with wear and low compression. There's lots of tricks to get a diesel going when it is low on compression, but the real trick is in choosing one of the tricks that doesn't add engine damage to normal wear. It's definitely worth finding...

CS2410 suddenly won't start despite new battery, good fuel flow

" You wrote, "fuel flow out of the filter seems fine when I disconnect the fuel line from the filter on the engine side." If you disconnected the fuel line, there is a chance that air got into the fuel line filter to the fuel pump. The symptoms sure sound like it. No idea why it didn't start...

Is there any way to compare based on quality rather than price?

    Complexity and Reliability

I'm sticking with our older equipment for now. I understand it - and even though I am physically less and less able to fix it myself, take comfort in at least being able to understand and diagnose the problem. And the truth is that most old machinery is easily diagnosed and fixed. That's partly...

    45-55 hp with Power Shuttle?

Just as a historical note, all of the 18hp and up Yanmars sold in the 1980s by dealers in the US had a shuttle plus power shift accomplished with hydraulic wet clutch/syncros between the gears in the gearbox. They did also have a standard dry flywheel clutch - but it was only used for initial...

    Hydraulic circuit add

Well, not much to add. You seem too have thought it through. I don't see why your solenoid to a priority valve wouldn't work. It certainly would not be crudely controlled, so my guess is you would just power it until what? a relief valve going off? Using a solenoid to turn on an adjustable...

    Hydraulic circuit add

Probably the easiest way to power a couple of additional two-way cylinders independently is to buy a standard two spool open center FEL control valve that has a Power Beyond (PB) port. Use its 4 workports to power your two cylinders. If you aren't using those extra cylinders, the flow just...

Using Filled tires with a BH92 Backhoe

Sloshing? Where did that come from?

Using Filled tires with a BH92 Backhoe

If you want to argue like that, take into account how technical writing differs from legal. In technical writing like tractor manuals, when something is not even mentioned that does not imply that it is included or excluded. What it means is that If fixed ballast is not mentioned, it is simply...

Using Filled tires with a BH92 Backhoe

It's easy enough to just not use the stabilizers to elevate the tires if they are loaded. Then there's no problem. And it's probably more stable that way anyhow.
