Dragging trees out of clearing, best method?

I've pulled trees with by back blade - a 6' CAT 1 - I removed the blade to be able to lower it closer to the ground. Pulled maybe 10 trees like that - not a lot but it works. Just a pain to get the trees chained/hooked up every time. I would get a setup like the video 2 in post 11 to drop over...

THats a really clean tractor and loader doesn't look like it was used much. When you look at similar auction results with Cab and loader, they are $25-30K range with much higher hours (12-1500 hrs) and one was $35K with 250 hours and cab. I would say $35K is reasonable offer/good deal with the...

Taking down some trees for land clearing - how high should I leave stumps for easier removal?

I do as overszd says for smaller trees - 3-8" leave 3' of stump to use as leverage with the BH bucket. Also a ripper tooth on a BH or excavator can rip the roots up without making a huge hole. But anything 12" and bigger, dig around the base and push them over intact. With this approach, thin...

Home Building Questions - Propane - All electric - Fireplace

The Mitsubishi Hyper Heat (with no tray defrost) have a COP of 4.26 @ 47*F, 3.37 @ 17F, and 3.1 at 5*F. Which means they return 3 units of heat for every watt/KW input. So if 1 KW = 3412 BTU, the mini spits create 10,577 BTU at 5*F (3.1x3412) In reality, I found the mini splits claim to heat...

    21" Post Hole Auger

Yes Saxon - you will find the PHD (Post Hole Digger) on your tractor will do a decent job "if" your soil is not too rocky or hard pan. If you have rocks, ledge, or roots it will shear pins, and without down pressure you won't be able to apply force to the PHD. If you have a lot of trees to...

    21" Post Hole Auger

Leonz - I could have used one of these this year - planted 40 5-6' Norway spruce root balls - used an 18" auger on a Bobcat CTL with down pressure as we have a lot of rocks and the 18" auger did a good job clearing rocks and loosening the soil. Worked fine to get the holes "roughed in" but...

Yes this would work and I do this with my B21 to reposition the machine - it's an HST but would work with shuttle too. Another member here put a 12V linear actuator on the treadle pedal of an HST and a switch to activate FWD/REV - pretty slick. I would stay away from repositioning with the...

Yes you are correct - it's per flue - you can have 3-4 flues in a chimney separated by pipe/brick. There are exceptions - you can have more than one appliance on a single flue but it is generally discouraged, and in old houses with multiple fireplaces this was not uncommon.

Well it ended at $19K plus $3800 buyers premium so $22,800 not a bad deal, but not a great deal either. New 25 years ago it was $29K range. So yes, the auctioneer's make out - as I called and asked if it was 20% on the whole amount - yep.

NH Auction for L35TLB 825 Hrs

My wife gets auction listings and she found this yesterday. If anyone is looking for a decent L35 TLB here's for sale locally - looked at it yesterday - runs fine and dry - no leaks at any seals or underneath. Just needs a pressure wash - dusty but otherwise very good shape. 1997 Kubota...

How to Recover a Lost Submersible Well Pump

It works as Buckeye stated, but you can have the storage and the CSV to get the most drawdown before starting and then keep the pump running until demand stops. This IMO is the ideal setup as it keeps the pump running during any demand, then only turns on after using the stored water, which...

    Tractor Tire Repair

I think the repair as you describe will work fine - but I would not put too many holes/stitches as they can tear out from flexing. New tires are $500+ for the M and only replace if this would fail. As far as safety you should see it before it fails completely.

How to Recover a Lost Submersible Well Pump

Glad you were able to get this all sorted out and at a reasonable cost too! It would also be interesting to see if or how they will use a torque arrestor since you only have 4" of clearance around the packer so makes the arrestor really not function as intended but there is one on the old pump.

    Thoughts on this guy’s experiences

Agree with both comments alxepops and crashz - especially the size of the tractor vs the BH, and these aren't really a TLB - they are a tractor with a backhoe attached. The true TLB with the full frame construction commercial grade are really only in the Kubota lineup - the B21, B26, and...

    Best battery

Ferling, Walmart doesn't make batteries they just label them, only a few vendors actually build them which they private label them for the vendor - whether its Walmart, or AUtozone etc. For your machine its a 720CCA, series 65 or?

Buying Advice Upgrading LX3310 verses L3302 from B2620

As Richard suggests get the bigger L series L3560 with a cab and grapple, depending on where you are (no profile location noted) and front QA plow. If you can advise your location and if you get 3 feet of snow, or 12 feet in a season and the length of your driveway and clearance to plow, this...

    Best battery

I have DEKA in my Ferris ZT mower 11 years now, trickle charge in March-April, Walmart Everstart Maxx in Kubota for 10 years, OEM battery in Kubota lasted 10 years, and I trickle charge Kubota from Nov-March - the snow season. Car's and truck batteries seem to last 5-6 years, as they have more...

ZTR/ Lawn Tractor Under Deck No Stick

Fluid film or some coating helps for about an hour, but nothing will work long term and water is the enemy for bearings. Best solution don't cut when grass is wet or damp, use gator blades or high lift blades to move more air/grass. I scrape/clean the deck mid and end of season when I sharpen...

    Need advice/recommendation on repair/rebuild/replace Kohler KT735

My Ferris has 13x6.5 fronts and I ran one into granite curbing a few years ago- went flat - reinflated - went flat again. Took off cleaned bead and added rubber sealant and it’s fine now for last two years Looked into run flats $150 decided don’t need to spend the $ or change the ride As for...

Your Yearly Cost of Tractor Ownership

My B21 was $25K new, then bought Thumb, Ripper, and Forks so $26K over 21 years, plus $3000 in maintenance and fuel for 700 hours. Total cost per year $1300, or $40 per hour. If it sold today for $15K would cut these numbers in half. Bottom line, the amount of work done, and less wear and...

That was a fast change out - looks good. Noticed the fan shroud is missing on top of the engine.. Neighbor has the same engine on his Simplicity 48" ZT mower I just finished working on - one of the valve pushrods fell off then would not start easily - stumped me for a while until I found the...

Solar Interest and Selling Power Back

We put in 7.2 KW solar in 2014 in NH, 24 300W LG panels, Solar edge inverters - generates 7200-7500KWH/year which is 80% of our consumption, and we have grid tied net metering so 1-1 return as rates change. Total installed cost $26,000- less 30% tax credit $8K, less $5K NH credit - net cost...

    Internet speeds vs Sonos devices?

We have the Sonos system with the Sonos Boost for wider area coverage (total 12 Sonos devices throughout the house). I don't think Sonos devices take any significant bandwidth as they are their own network of devices. A year ago, we signed up for 1GB service from Comcast (cable) as we had...

Kubota, Leaky fitting, anyone familiar with this one?

Good Job - that lip is only 1/16" if that to grip on - glad you were able to get it loose with a torx bit! The Kubota orings are usually black and you should not need a lot of torque to seal with a new oring/plug. Keep us posted on progress and new plugs.

Kubota, Leaky fitting, anyone familiar with this one?

Joe - yes the original tightness/torque on some of these could make it a bear to remove the nut, but with an o-ring seal you wouldn't think they would need to tighten too much. Glad you found the leak too! Just get a good fitting allen wrench and give it a go - might need some heat assist.

Kubota, Leaky fitting, anyone familiar with this one?

I took a look at mine and it would seem you should remove the BH to get better access to the back of the cylinder. Also you are correct there is a nut in the end of the welded fitting with a hex head. I would doubt that would loosen up, and unless you got something jammed in between the swing...

Given the price delta Briggs to Kawasaki I vote the Briggs as it will last you at least 20-25 years with 30 Hrs/year. Modifying the existing Kohler muffler or buying a Briggs muffler will set you back a $100 or so, but your under $1200 for a repower.
