What do you drive for a truck?

Over a 5k mile oil change interval I’m getting right at or a tenth or two over 15 MPG. This includes all types of driving but only short trailer pulls (sub 50 miles). My local driving is rural and interstate with little to no traffic and if not pulling a trailer I can get 16 MPG if careful...

    PTO Speed Increaser

As I understand EPTO it is for when you do NOT need your full PTO HP, so it allows for 540 RPM at a lower engine RPM. From what you said it sounds like you could use a lower HP tractor, but it would be worked harder. I think the guys that are wanting a PTO speed multiplier are wanting to do...

Radial vs Bias ply on a compact tractor?

I know my 17.5/R/24 radials ride MUCH better than my bias 17.5/24 tires do. The sidewall flex is much greater. I posted a picture of both with zero air pressure for reference. https://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/threads/17-5lr24-tires-w-r1-tread.462154/#post-6448625

    Carrying capacity

I’m not sure the camber being loss due bent axles is just because of overloading the axles. Many 7k trailers are just an angle iron frame that flexes too much when overloaded. Mine with the 5” channel iron frame has never bent the axles. That said I have debated replacing my axle, but the...

    Carrying capacity

I regret the day I bought a 18’ 7k pound trailer that weighs 2500 pounds back in 2003. Truthfully it 4500 pounds of payload. The other issue is it’s to short to really position the load for proper tow weight with equipment (flail mower which is way shorter than your bush hog) and tractor...

I would also look at the transmission gears of both of them. The 606 only has a 5 speed unless it has a TA then it 10 speeds, but a torque amplifier (TA) may or may not bring issues. IIRC the TA would free wheel in low going downhill. Also, the 1st and revers are kinda fast for loader work...

    ID Grain Drill

Anyone know what wheels will work on a McCormick M drill that has rubber tires aka low wheel. The part number in my manual is 453 631 R91 for 15” wheels and 16 632 W for 16” wheels. They are 8 bolt wheels and the center hole a bit less than 5.25” in diameter.

    Question about 5030hst

When International Harvester designed the hydrostatic transmission the big selling point was PTO work due to speed variability. I really like my hydrostatic for both mowing and loader work. I haven’t tried it with a ground engaging attachment other than my roll over box blade and only one time.
