Weird it's the opposite here. The power company is the only one that does it themselves. Verizon, spectrum and cox only do repairs all drops and mainline work is outsourced.
I really lucked out buying this machine out of state without laying eyes in it. A new one is $220k, almost a year wait...
2005. I had to clean the valve in the block that switches from the plow to the trencher and drain and clean the fuel tank. I'm very happy with it and have been offered twice what I paid for it but it makes me that much in two weeks so I declined.
It has a trencher on the back also and a 6 way...
Thanks. It's been crazy dry this summer and the dirt so powdery so some if the areas I trenched earlier in the year I've been back to do restoration on 3-4 times(super dry then a short hard downpore and the trenches sink in) Looking forward to not worrying about that anymore.
Heres another video.
The machine had been a great purchase. I timed it yesterday, put in 915ft of 2" conduit 30" deep in 27minutes. Ended up getting a little over 2500ft in would have done more but my helper is sick so I was running solo and can only work on this highway 10am-3pm because it...
Has anyone ever met and engineer that didn't make sure you knew their occupation? Kinda like vegans. 😅
Being an engineer maybe you should draw all the tractors up in Autocad and run stress tests?
Please know I'm just joking so don't take me serious!
Edit: I just noticed there are a few more...
Usually the way those fuel solenoids work is, they get full voltage for a few seconds to activate, then the voltage reduces to hold them in place without burning them up.
Thanks for all the knowledge and advice. I'm going to test drive, climb under and look around this weekend and see how it does.
Been a busy end of the week. Had 4 long road bores and a driveway.
I need more towing capacity and there is one of these for sale down the road from me. 2008 f350 dually with the v10. I think it said heavy duty or super duty on it. Need to tow a 14k trailer. It's not an engine or truck I know much about. 71,000 miles and 21k$ owner said it was mainly used...
Complaining about taxes is like complaining about having to take a dump because you eat. It doesn't do any good. A 7kish tax subsidie for buying a ev is such small change in our tax problems anyway. Tax code needs to be simple. End the credits, write offs etc and make it so anyone can get the...
One thing I've learned in life, if a person gets tax credits, subsidies, help along the way they deserve it. Of someone else gets those same tax credits, subsidies, help along the way they're good for nothing welfare queens taking advantage of the system. Lol
The front edge wears out then gets replaced. It has 6 holes for depth adjustment and broke were the lowest bolt hole is. I never used that setting so that section was cut out and replaced with solid. I do need two set of bolt holes though for double pipe sections where I have to plow a pipe over...
It was this crazy rootball that looked More like a stump that roots, was growing more vertical than horizontal. Usually the blade will cut through almost any roots but it got stuck in this clump and wouldn't lift out or back up. It was my fault it broke at one point I had the 11k machine doing a...
Starlink is so far ahead in speed and reliability(and no data cap) compared to any of the other options available to me it's unbelievable. I just put conduit in the ground for spectrum fiber on my street but it will be a year minimum before it's active. Then we'll see.
I pulled the two valves out of the top and was disappointed to find them looking good with no screen to clog and clean. So I put it back together with the same result.
Then I tried swapping them, this resulting in the engine bogging because if blocked hydraulic flow.
So I took them out...
This block switches between the trencher and the vibratory. The trencher works at full power but the vibrator never gets fully up to speed and looses all power when the drive wheels are activated. Also the trencher slightly spins then the vibrator is selected making me the the switch valve isn't...
There is a toggle switch, you can only run one at a time.
The thing on the right is a vibratory plow. A hydraulic motor spins a gear that spins an out of balance shaft and it shakes is a off. You can feed conduit/wire/etc through the shoot or you can pull a chain to a floating bullet(3" in...
I love how people talk about how they would never live in California like that hurts California. I'm sure most of the people living in California are thinking they'd never live where I live but don't need to go online posting about it. Lol.
Always good to have the manuals. I just bought a used vermeer and was pleasantly surprised to find you can go on their site put in the Vin and download operators, parts and service manuals for free!
I used to have a mf1010 and it would pull the crap out of a 4ft box blade and run 5ft finish mower quite nicely. It's crazy what good low gearing can do.
Look for the fuel injection pump. There is either a solenoid with a little rod coming out of it or a solenoid that is internal to the pump. Either way find that then pull the wire/plug off of it.
In these numbers are you just renting the machine out or running it and not paying yourself anything?
If you have machinery, insurance, fuel costs, trucks, trailers, transport time, etc and your not getting 1k per day it's not worth doing.
From the years vs hours I see MANY users of this site post I'd say most people on here would do fine with a electric tractor...
I love the ones "200hrs and no problems its a good machine", well I hope not it isn't even broken in yet. Lol.
I think it will be a very long time or never before...
If you say so. Everytime I try to "help" someone with a low price it comes back to bite me in the butt. People who want "cheap" work don't appreciate it and complain. The one job I had a problem with last year was the one I did for free trying to help a neighbor out.
I've done much better...
You're better off being to high and not getting the job than being too low and wishing you never took the job. Know your expenses and how much you want in profit and charge that. Who cares what other people charge, just do good work.
Mowing lawns is a conspiracy made by the petroleum industry;)
I grew up cutting too much grass so when I bought a house I kept as many trees as possible to keep things shady and slow the grass down.
I also cut low and let it grow high. Lol. Grass is a weed so I laugh when people only want...
If so would you be able to look at a ditchwitch I'm thinking about buying and having shipped to me. They are supposed to be getting me videos of it running and operating but I'd feel more comfortable dropping the $$$ if I had some eyes on it. PM me if you're interested in helping.
Thanks,
Keith
I have the Hobart 14ci and it works well. I would have liked a larger one but $$ this one cuts 1/4steel if you go slow with it. It's still much faster than cutoff wheels and way clean and less stinky in the shop. Anything less that 1/4 is nice and fast.
I'm not a fan of her but I do find it funny so many people who have done nothing and will be forgotten enjoy joking on a young lady who as already made a name for herself.
It's cool that the people who drive past solar and wind farms(and don't like them) know more about their profitability than the accountants that clear them and businesses that build them, I'm impressed!
So you got $550 for 2 precats and 2 cats? $550/4= $137.50 per unit, not very far off of the numbers i posted.
10yrs ago I scrapped many cars and what I posted is what I used to get for them. I guess like everything the sky's the limit now.
Definitely getting sold to for scrap. Probably getting 25-150 dollars for a
convertor that cost $1500-3000 to replace.
Only option is the get hydraulics and drop the frame on the ground whenever you park;)
I don't think it's a crime to pay with cash. I think it's then just a he said she said as to whether an item is paid for when using cash. If you write them a check then you have proof they were paid.
Aren't cashiers checks the driving force behind Nigerian prince scams. Must be pretty easy to fake. Banks cash them the days later take the money back after finding they're fake. Many places won't accept them. I known won't without holding in account for a few days before giving object to buyer.
It's my first timing running one of these. Not bad but burns up some gas. 46hp 88ftlbs. I use about 8-10 gallons with the 46hp Kubota gas engine in the vermeer vs about 5gallons in the 45hp diesel ditchwitch.(per day) The ditchwitch is older and I think the current comparable model to the...
Three sheets work well for an excavator to leapfrog around on. Not sure how the smaller contact points of tractor tires would do and you would need enough to make a path. They can get stuck/suctioned down pretty tight after tracking over/working on them. Not sure you could pick them up and move...
For yall nuclear fans but it can't be believed because it's main stream media. So don't read it.
https://www.cnbc.com/amp/2022/06/02/nuclear-waste-us-could-power-the-us-for-100-years.html
I left a load if dirt in mine for a few days/week got rained on and then dried out. Tried backing up and stopping/hitting bottom/all the usual tricks. Ended up scraping top 3rd out with the excavator. I will probably order a low friction liner then paint the inside and install it. They're...
I used to work on cars/trucks and then was a service manager for a while.
Have you ever priced a replacement engine or transmission from the manufacturer? 7 years ago Jasper remanufactured unites were 3-6k depending on what it went in to. Replacements from the oem could be anywhere from a...
Here's narrow trenching bucket I'm building for a specific purpose. Digging 36" deep with a 12" (an 18" or 24" is even worse) bucket removes too much dirt, disturbance and backfill time. Only reason to use a wide one is if you need to get in there and do work with your hands...
The seat isn't gravely specific besides the fabric. Last time I looked you could get them for 550-600. Might get one for the excavator. Just look for a suspension seats with the clear weight setting Dial on the front. Many high end mowers use that same one.
I'll give it a try but I'm afraid the extra length will hurt the cylinder leverage too much. Don't plan to make thumb extensions for this crazy long bucket but the other buckets i made have longer "toes" than the factory tag buckets so I might make an extension that matches up with the other...
I guess my local electrical co-op is better than most. The only time my power goes out is from a hurricane or the rare snow/ice storm.
When I run my welder or turn down the ac I don't worry about the grid. When someone buys a farm and builds 19 new bigger than most houses they're not worried...
Just across the line in NC people like to burn plastic/Styrofoam/trash/tires because they don't have city trash pick up. Does that mean I should do the same?
Get a generator then. The electric companies will love to sell charging power for ev they'll find the grid problems and fix them to make those dollars. I'm not going to spend one minute worrying about the grid or evs.
In the process if making my 4th bucket for the excavator. This one is for digging narrow trenches and digging/cleaning under other utility lines. This is for places the ride on trencher can't go because if space or possibility if getting stuck. Also useful for cleaning out any trench cave ins...
Do you have a thumb rocker on either joystick? One thing that pisses me off about the US vs Euro market is the aux options. The same machines over there are offered with 3 auxs on proportional valves and over here we're just offered one.
If cold weather kills ticks and mosquitoes how tf do they survive and thrive I Alaska? I think the only way weather hurts them is if there is an early warming followed by getting cold again. Wakes them up gets them out then kills them. This is really all just my speculation I haven't done any...
@JWR The next time you're curious about a project look up the 811 ticket online and call the company doing it. In va you can look them up by street or GPS proximity to your phone.
My excavator has a canopy with rops and fops. The ditchwith rt45 just has a rops bar but I rigged up a patio unbrella for shade. My post isn't about keeping me cool but about keeping by butt from getting so sweaty. I wear long sleeves, pants and the biggest sombrero you've ever seen. Lol...
Picture please. I'm working on a 9"(quick coupler width) at the top to 3" at the cutting edge by 38" deep for trenching in the areas the chain trencher doesn't work well.(sticky clay)
I don't have that machine but I have 1ft, 18", 24" and 36" buckets for mine. Use the 1ft and the 3ft the most with 24" coming in third. Rarely use the 18"er.
I'm going to be putting in fiber all summer for rural internet. Going 36" deep is slow. This means I'll be sitting in a vinyl chain trencher or excavator seat for hours on end.
Any solutions for being cooler? Taxi driver bead seat covers? Ice packs for the butt lol? Any kind of 12v butt fan...
The ops post premise is incorrect for my area.
Most of the crops grown around here are not for human consumption. Corn is either for ethanol or feed. Soybeans get used for making plastics. Cotton doesn't taste very good. Peanuts are the only thing grown in large scale that gets eaten by humans...
When I was looking for a dump trailer I came across this exact type of thing many times on Craigslist. Sometimrs it was a dead husband, sometimes it was an "im deployed at sea but need to sell this and arrainged it with the shipping company before i left.
One of trailer is still for sale...
I think of logistics as the path something takes to get from point A to point B in the supply chain. I would have used logical instead of logistics in your sentence.
Glad he lived through it!!
Lesson #1 (I got yelled at about this a long time ago) only start a tractor from the seat. The older the tractor the more important this rule is.
My 60v greenworks doesn't throw chains often but when it does it the drive gear messing them up and they're no longer usable.
It also works much better with the 5ah batteries than the 2ah batteries. Not meaning run time but cut power.
Load me up a picture so I don't have to guess at what I'm trying to armchair fix. Lol. I've done enough Jackleg repairs in the past to learn fixing stuff improperly isn't worth it. I know the way you describing fixing it isn't the way I'd want my equipment fixed.
I would have told them I wasnt willing to fix it the way you did. It's obvious you don't care about the owner you don't need to tell us that. Lol.
Without seeing the bucket I guess I would have cut the ears off and welded on a new set.
I have 4 buckets for my excavator, two if which I made...
I haven't fired up my gas saw since I bought the 60v greenworks. Keep the chain sharp(just like a gasser) and it's amazing. Cut up a 33" diameter fallen pine tree with it. The saw will cut longer than I want to with 2×5ah batteries and is able to charge the spare before the other battery runs...
There is someone around here that's started up a robotic lawn mowing business. They put in the wire or setup a geofence, drop off the mower let it do its thing, then pick it up and take it to the next place. I talked to them about installing the boundary wires but they didn't want to pay what I...
2ft long breaker bar if you weigh 225lbs ought to do it. I think that's correct check it online but it's pretty simple to get +- close enough like that.
What world do you live in. I make and spend "worthless" money everyday, seems like everyone else I know does the same thing. Don't you have to convert your precious metals to "worthless money" in order for it to have value? Or do you go the store and plop a piece of palladium down on the...
I see lots of post on TBN with people hitting 100hrs after 4 or 5 years of use. Seems like an electric would do them just fine.
I love the ones "my (insert brand) tractors been great no problems at all @75 hrs", lol it's not even broken in yet.
You grab both bars with one hand and twist the wrist to turn. You have to put the beer between legs to spin machine. Any zt mower worth having has an adjustable suspension seat you tune to your weight, just like a tractor that's worth having.
@Bob Nelson did you have any luck with getting Cummins parts that work in your Branson?
Not sure if I'm a troll or not but I never got a Cummins place to work with me on kukje stuff and I'm usually pretty good at finding parts.
On a flat alien world couldn't an alien stand at the tallest peak of the alien rockies with a telescope and see another alien standing at the highest peak if the alien Appalachian mountains....then they would know what aliens look like.
I tried that with a neighbor I was helping with 2400h engine and had no luck. Maybe the few shops I tried just didn't want to help. Ended up getting everything from a Branson dealer...
I've had numerous large fires in the backyard from trees piled up clearing land. In the summer there is definitely a shadow from the flames blocking the sunlight.
You know someone's losing an arguement when they throw down the **** card. Lol. Not to mention refusing to respond to any question that invalidates their opinion.
I think aliens could look like anything but star trek taught me their genitalia will match up with ours...
If you are mounting the receiver on the stick you will want a tripod with height adjustment for the laser. Sometimes it is a pain to get the laser at the perfect height to match up with an area on the machine the receiver can mount to and the depth you want to dig.
Something like this...
I use a spectra laser level you can set grade on with a remote and their magnetic machine receiver on my excavator. It works well. If you have the receiver on the stick it only reads accurate with the stick at 90deg to the ground but you get a feel for it. I made a bar for my 36" bucket that...
It will compact much better than a 5000lb tractor but it will only do a few inches at a time so if it's think you have to add/compact/add/compact/repeat. The specs tell you how think a layer it does. Proper moisture is key also depending on the aggregate you're compacting.
I have the blue one, I thinks it's power horse or something like that, or maybe I got it northern tool. Either way it works well, I've had it for 5 or 6 years and use it often in my business.
If it sits outside in a windy hard rain water gets in the cylinder somehow. You'll know when you pull...
You can grow your own vegetables but most people go to the grocery store and pay tax on what farmers grow....even people with gardens buy some veggies off and on during the year from the store.
There must not be any reputable logging companies in my area. They all look like crap tree debris and ruts everywhere. In my woods the pine stumps were the last to rot because they were big enough to heart wood(fatwood, light wood, lighter wood) centers that almost never break down.
Even though my main work isn't "Pipe excavating" this book really helped me with pricing jobs. Know your buckets capacity, your machines cycle time to scoop dump and reset, then calculate the amount the amount of dirt that needs to be moved and divide it by your bucket capacity then multiple...
I would find a ride on vibratory roller. Using the plate compactor on a 35ftx45ft parking pad gets old and takes awhile. It does a good job compacting though. As far as propelling itself forward it will go up steep hills as long as they're solid. I use it on bicycle jump trails and it will...
I agree it will take along time with a plate compactor, but they do "drive" themselves forward. I only have to pull mine if the ground is too wet/soft. 99% of the time it's just one finger on the bar steering it. Most plate compactors give you a feet per minute spec so you could figure out...
What about measuring how long it takes light to get from known distance point a to b then extrapolating how far it goes in a year makes a person Godless?
Judge not lest you be judged first......seems a little judgy to call people you don't know Godless.
Leveling with a box blade takes a quick hand on the lever or the undulations the tractor and box blade go over make the problem worse without constant height adjustment. A box blade with wheels behind it(farther the better) or a land plane perform much better and are easier to use.
Thanks, the day you admit you're wrong is the day I know your account was hacked😉. I'm probably wrong but this has been my experience with vehicles and getting stuck. Long live lockers!😁
