Both, the red pic and the top were 3 point assemblies come to think of it. The top was 7/8 and a pain to fuss with a bushing or find a smaller bolt than the rest of our stuff and one day I reached the end and punch the holes out to inch. We dont use it a lot but hook a couple times a year...

Loss depends on how much you are pumping, 5 gpm thru a 2 inch is different than 50 or 100. What is everyone paying for steel these days?

I collect. I found a big chunk of 3x3 angle the other day really new must have come off a truck. 6 ft for picking it up. I "file" it, cut it in to manageable stock and have some shelves and even old van body to keep some in the junkyard out of the weather. I rarely have to bend/form a lot...

Not every store likes DIY. One I use does and they have a huge drop rack and charge the new rate but the upside is huge selection and can buy shorts. I rarely buy much anymore, when I do get full pieces of common, I buy custom sizes when I need and few strips and small angles that are common...

Something to consider with this is because you have a 90A wire dont mean you ever pull that,,, same for common 120V, having a 20A breaker is different than a 20A load. Only place breaker really provides thermal protection is for multiple outlets on a general circuit and panel to panel feeders.
