Holy smoke! The walk-behind trencher made fast work of this! Got two 50' lines done in an hour! And when I say done I mean pipe buried and backfilled. I ended up taking the guy's advice above ^^^ and I did run solid pipe the entire length and terminated into a pop-up drain rather than using...

Went outside today, took a guess as to where my sewer line was laid back in 2017. Marked a spot I thought will end up close to the intersection of my drain pipe and the sewer pipe. Started digging straight down with post hole diggers. Hit the pipe dead on the money in about 90 seconds. Even...

What I have now is 6' of corrugated pipe laying on the ground at each back corner of the house and 20' at each back corner of the detatched garage. That is the ultimate mowing obstacle. Not to mention it's ruining the grass at the end of the pipe and keeping the yard wet close to the house...

Alright thanks guys. I'll go with the trencher. As far as utility location, we had this house built 5 years ago and watched all utilities put in, even did sewer and water ourselves, so I know exactly where everything is at and I'll only be crossing the sewer line at one point with one of the...

    Which machine would you use?

I need to dig 4 trenches. Each trench needs to be 6-8" wide and about 50 feet long. I'm going to lay pipe in the ground to carry gutter downspout water farther out into the yard. Currently it's dumping about 6 feet from the house. I want it to dump 50 feet away. So I'm going to bury pipe...

Well, with a tandem axle if one tire blows the other axle will hold that wheel with the blown tire up off the roadway. The tire is already trashed, but at least the wheel won’t also be trashed since it’s being held up off the roadway due to the fact that you’ve got another good tire on that...

    Hydrostat vs Shuttle

I'm the guy who started that 20+ page thread and after a couple of months with a hydro tractor I can say there is NO turning back. It's hard to explain, but all I can say is that living with the hydro trans day to day makes the tractor SOOOOOO much easier, faster, and more convenient. Even...

    Brush Guard for Workmaster 40?

The ONLY brush guard I can find online is the New Holland branded one. They call it a "grille guard" and from what I can see, it's $600+. That seems insane. Does anybody know of a better option?

If you start a diesel, work it?

My new tractor rarely goes beyond 1/2 throttle and almost never goes beyond 2/3 throttle. And I'm coming up on 25 hours without even seeing a regen cycle happen. From all the threads I've seen on forums, my tractor should have plugged up and died by now.

“Buy the dealer, not the machine” is outdated

If I had gotten my decision down to 2-3 tractors and 1 of them was going to come home with me, you better believe that the quality/friendliness of the dealerships would be a HUGE factor in which brand I'd pick.

NH Workmaster 25 vs Kioti CK2610

I had a 2021 NH Workmaster 25 for about 4 weeks. I just couldn't stand the lack of power for a nearly 4,000 lb. unit (with loader and rear attachment). High range was totally useless for traveling down any roads that have an incline. Medium range would bog down while using my box blade, or...

Operating tractor in 4wd all the time?

Just traded a 22 year old New Holland TC29 that lived its entire life in 4WD and had no issues. I stay in 4WD constantly because it DOESN'T tear up the grass as bad. In 2WD the rears shred the turf trying to push and pull the weight of the tractor around. In 4WD there is no slippage and no...

Zero turn thoughts on common models

This upcoming season will be #4 for the eXmark 60" that we bought brand new. I think it's the E-series, so it's mid grade and not top of the line. Has a 30ish horsepower Kohler engine. Things that have gone wrong: -Brake issue causing maneuverability to become poor, had to have it repaired...

Would you buy a 54" or 60" deck?

My lot is 2-3 acres with a few trees and our house in the middle. We got a 60" ExMark four seasons ago and have regretted not getting the 72" deck for the last three and a half seasons. Lol. Live and learn...

    Comparison LS: Best and Worst

Traded a 22 year old, well beaten and abused, New Holland TC 29 in on a brand new New Holland Workmaster 40 and so far I LOVE it. Way more lift capacity and standard features than the competition, operator station is laid out the way it should be, and it hasn't even gone into regen yet after a...

    Subcompact for hilly 3-acre

I started out shopping subcompacts for 2-3 acres of hilly and partially wooded use. I quickly realized that a compact is what I really needed. A subcompact won't even pull my box blade up my gravel driveway once the box is full of material. I'd suggest looking at the 35-40 HP compacts. Then...

GM 2.7 I-4 Turbo gas engine.

Apparently for 2022 the 2.7L hair dryer is also replacing the 5.3L V8 in a large part of the Silverado lineup. Very dumb move, but I wouldn't expect anything less from GM who has made the worst truck on the road since the GMT400 platform came out in 1988. The 2.0L has slightly more torque...

Leaving Implements Raised - Bad For Hydraulic System?

My father is a 45+ year career heavy equipment mechanic. He gets irritated if I leave the 3-point hitch up on the tractor with an implement attached when I park it, and he's specifically cited mechanics and not safety as the reason. So in order to keep him happy I always drop the implement...
