Mowing  Anti can opener treatment for rotary mower

In rocky New England fields the blade will eventually cut open the deck of light duty mowers like a can opener. I have found that rounding the top corner of high lift blades like the middle picture will spread the impact out and stretch the deck metal, leaving a shallow welt like the 1st...

    Everything Attachments

Heres to You Travis! Tractor attachments and beer. Celebrated by scratching the paint a little. The serrated bottom teeth really hold stuff, even with the lid up it drags 12 foot long 16 inch Maple logs backwards. Gaining confidence that the end tines are hard to bend on larger brush /...

EA has owned the mistake and I am satisfied with the outcome. Would have preferred the original 54 but due to projects that need to be completed the best solution was the 60 inch. It gets here in time and I’m sure I’ll forget why I wanted a 54 after a short time. I really don’t think any...

Grapple arrived at the end of week 9, but not with the mount I ordered so I refused it. Thinking it may make sense to simply go buy a grapple locally at this point. The good news is someone should get a wicked 54 single skid steer mount a bit early.

    Wierd things that have happened

A thread for who’ da thunkit mishaps. My contribution for today: driving on lawn, suddenly a maple branch comes wheeling around my right foot and pins my foot down hard (!) against the go pedal, just as I am negotating a slow turn around the mini-ex. I could NOT lift my toe! Ended up...

I think I see some wicked 54 single teeth! Going on week 7 of an initial 2-3 week wait, may need to re-schedule a planned memorial day work party.

Guidance for artillian 3rd function on 3520

Well I just ordered an artillian diverter kit for the 3520, and then an EA 54 single lid root grapple. Any clever suggestions on hookup details would be most welcome, thanks.

Reducing bush hog can opener effect

Dieselcrawler is correct. Photo of early dent with sharp cornered blade, with later dent from rounded. 1st dent also has been hit a few times since with rounded edge blades. About 300 acres on the cutter at this point. Stealth rocks are a fact of life in many northern new england pastures...

Reducing bush hog can opener effect

I ground a smooth curve into the trailing edge tips of the suction blades and rounded the top. Kind of golf ball shaped on the top edge. It makes a smooth welt on the deck instead of a sharp crease or tear. 3 years now and I think its working well.

Where to put electric diverter on 3520?

Looking at putting a fasse 2:1 electric diverter on the 3520, would like to add to the bucket curl circuit. Main purpose is to rotate the chute of a rear blower, rear remote has a hydraulic toplink so I need another connection. I'm a little concerned about snapping it into the front quick...

3520 MFWD speed sensor photo needed...please...

Well, I ripped the terminals from my MFWD speed sensor connector getting firewood today. The terminals, sensor, and connector seem OK BUT... The wire colors in the repair manual match the ones on the tractor harness (red, orange, black) but the sensor has red/wht, blk, wht, grn.wht wires which...

My recent experience with 5 and 6 foot rotary mower and 30 PTO hp

An apples to apples comparison on 5 and 6 foot light duty brush hogs on a 30PTO tractor. I have some pictures if I get around to loading them. My hope is that anyone with equipment / requirements similar to mune will find this helpful. I have a deere 3520 open station e-hydro, quick hitch...

Twin spindle 7' cutter on deere 3520?

Thinking about a 7' twin spindle light duty shredder on a 30PTO deere 3520. Do these use less PTO than a single spindle 6'? The fields I mow are light brush and fairly thin grass - old pasture and cropland. The machine breezes along with a 5' mower at 5MPH on cruise set at min. height (2")...

    Blackberring clearing

Since I own one (5 ton) I'm biased, but a mini-excavator with a thumb works well. Rip the ground and shallow roots with the bucket teeth, get rough level. If you hit a stump pull it, big rock, old car axle, etc. drop into piles. Final level with front blade (ground should be pretty loose by...

A few handy additions to my 3520

3 1/2" offset to imatch helps makes rc2060 track the way I like Laser pointer on Imatch projects dot on inside front of canopy, really useful for setting 3 point back to the same place when running cutter - I look back less. 4 HID lights on canopy - plastic housings from sloan express...

    3520 and rc2060 1st mow

Some of my experience rotary mowing the farm I grew up on. Towed with F-150 3.5 ecoboost on a 10K 20' car hauler, Used a WDH, 270 miles each way northwestern VT to northern Maine. Truck handles this very, very well, 12MPG+, 6500lb trailer w/xtra fuel, tools, rigging but no loader...
