So, pronunciation. Why do people leave out t's, r's,g's, etc? Have we become that lazy? Or is it the texting world that has lead to this? I listened to a College Educated Political Appointee on a Teams meeting the other day and she shortcutted several words multiple times. Even news people...

Afternoon all. Worked on the camper a bit this am. Then mowed with the woods behind the tractor. Relaxed on the deck for a bit with the wife then cooked her day early birthday meal. Steamed shrimp, Crab Legs, and Clams. She made herself a Red Velvet Cake with homemade ButterCream icing.

    Making gas cans great again

I was being humorous, which you missed I believe. I, and most people, tend to think DEF smells like cat piss. So if DEF is done away with, the cats are unemployed from pissing in the jugs.

Yeah, but your grip strength will be great. Between running grease guns, and pounding in grade stakes with an 8 pound hammer with a 25" handle, I had good forearms and grip strength for years. Age tells its toll tho. I can't remember how many fittings were on a 613 paddle pan, 12E grader, 966...

    Box Blade Suggestion

So what are you calling full? Material running over the back plate? Or a uniform level all the way across? My first thought is you need a swale next to your driveway to handle the water. This would solve the bulk of your issue. Second, take a smaller bite with your box blade. If you don't...

Excavator Blade: Behind or in Front?

Depends on what's you're doing. Habit would be to dig over the idlers. If no thumb ya may need the blade to trap things you are picking up and dont want dirt mixed in. Just don't be banging the bucket into the blade. Seals won't like that.

    Woods Finish Mower Issue

My first thought when seeing the picture of your mower was it's put together backwards, lol. Most woods mowers ive seen, and my 990, the flat side is the front which makes the angled or v side of the deck the back. 550s seem to be the opposite tho, from pics I found.

    Dry asphalt seal

Sounds like millings to me. If you pour sealer on it, it will absorb to below the surface. Unless it's compacted well above 100%. And it still won't do what I'm thinking you want it to do. And the Texas sun will wick out pockets of it and make quite the mess. Just my opinion.

Backhoe Boom Higher than Garage Door.

There should be a hole in the boom to put a pin thru to keep the extendahoe from creeping out while not in use. As long as the floor is fairly level I wouldn't think it would swing (drift) left or right. Pin it, and set the bucket on the floor with a piece of 3/4" plywood under it should be plenty.

Use caution on your delivery, Lou.
  153. Engineer42

    Good morning!!!!

Bill, I'm sure you're aware, but just in case most pumps nowadays come with an adjustable length pick up tube, with an angled end cut. Twist the tube and slide to length.
  154. Engineer42

    Good morning!!!!

Glad you had a good visit. Positive thoughts.
  155. Engineer42

    Good morning!!!!

Hope all went well at the appointment for your Mom. Ahhh, the good ole days when you could pull two pins on a GM Truck and have the whole headlight/parking light assembly out in less than a minute.
  156. Engineer42

Neat way to hide a key.

    Lol. Knox Box
  157. Engineer42

    Good morning!!!!

Dang Bill, you need to warm it up up there. Almost 80° here today.
  158. Engineer42

    Good morning!!!!

Lol, I read your post and then later this was on my utube feed.

Griffin Dump Trailer Issues Never Again

Meets the minimum specifications required by the American Trailer Manufacturers Assoc. Or whatever they are calling themselves. Or the DOT. They're making money on the sales. Other than the few reputable builders, the rest are flash in the pan hustlers. They sell to the "Harry Homeowner"...
  160. Engineer42

    Good morning!!!!

    I concur

    And it winks.
  162. Engineer42

    Good morning!!!!

Alemite has been my go to grease gun brand, Drew. They work well, and I have a few that are over 30 years old with many a tube of grease thru them.
  163. Engineer42

    Good morning!!!!

Tire replacement went quickly. 30 minutes in and out. They had two guys on it, so it didn't take long. 4 tires and valve stems. Evidently it was camper day, as they had one before me and two after. Tis' the season I guess.
  164. Engineer42

    Good morning!!!!

Yeah, inflation. $200 per for them now
  165. Engineer42

    Good morning!!!!

All this talk of tires, I'm replacing 4 on the camper tomorrow. Ken, the best part of that old alternator was it could be swapped out in about 15 minutes. Nowadays it takes longer than that to remove the plastic to see how much other junk has to be removed to replace the part you're after.
  166. Engineer42

    Perimeter alarms.

video would have been priceless I'm sure.
  167. Engineer42

    Good morning!!!!

Just keep talking, we'll listen. Hope all goes well at the hospital today.
  168. Engineer42

    Good morning!!!!

    Sorry for your loss, Ken.

You Know You Are Old When

Take it to the store and throw it in the cart of someone with a batch of screaming kids.
  171. Engineer42

    Good morning!!!!

I think it's both, as I have the same issue. It seems kids scream more than talk, and the parents must be able to tune it out. As I get older my patience for it becomes less.
  172. Engineer42

    Good morning!!!!

    I keep telling him that.
  173. Engineer42

    Good morning!!!!

Lol, I was thinking the same thing. Good place for some fluid film.
  174. Engineer42

    Good morning!!!!

Glad to hear you're feeling better and that you were able to get a diagnosis for your wife. Hoping that everything comes together to ensure good health and calmer waters for both of you in the future.

  176. Engineer42

    Good morning!!!!

Would almost make sense for them to frame that out and put in an access for future. I spec'd access panels when ours was built for ease of access.

You Know You Are Old When

Used to be a guy that wrote the back page article for field and stream. His review of the first multi tools on the market was hilarious. I read two papers everyday. I get quite frustrated regarding the poor job done proofreading articles. Grammar, spelling, not a worry it seems. In the...

    Good morning!!!!

Drew we had a 35' wooden, and a 50' wooden Bangor ladder that had outrigger poles for raising it. It required 6 people to raise and lower it, by the book. We have done it with 4 good men. They both left with the 56' LaFrance Ladder Truck if memory serves.

    2545 foaming behind engine

Looked like fuel to me. There is a fitting up by the firewall on the back of the engine. Very hard to get to. I had a friend with smaller hands than I have reach in and tighten a clamp. Might be the same issue.
  180. Engineer42

You Know You Are Old When

Drew I'd recommend the OEM. It will play better within the system. More money but piece of mind.
  190. Engineer42

    Good morning!!!!

9" of snow here. Up at 0230, shoveled the deck and sidewalk. Done with that at 0330, fired up the tractor and plowed the lane. That was complete at 0415 and in the office by 0440. Calling for rain this evening.

    Anyone ever polish a windshield?

Test a small area with toothpaste
  192. Engineer42

    Mahindra 5155 Anyone?

You could probably adjust the turnbuckle at either end. I'd want to look and make sure the entire cable wasn't sliding when shifting to forward, before adjusting.
  193. Engineer42

Something you want but can’t get or afford.

Most models have threaded spots around the cab glass area to accept vandal guards. It's easy to fab an expanded metal guard to save the glass. They're just annoying to stare thru all day. Upside is you still have eyes to stare thru them all day.
  194. Engineer42

    Good morning!!!!

Deere bought Wirtgen? Wow, hadn't heard that.

  198. Engineer42

    22 freightliner

My comment, vague as it was, was related to the possibly incorrect thought I had that Detroit had stopped building OTR engines prior to 21'. After some research, it appears that Mercedes is utilizing Detroits in their family of vehicles, rebranded as it may be. I had no false belief that a...
