I was shooting my 450 Dakota a while back - has the recoil equivalent of three 30-06 Springfields. Not the biggest gun but enough to get your attention. I took a shot off the bench and was seeing stars. No Blood and no sore spot above my eye from scope bite. Turns out the scope hit the brim...

I covered all 6 sides of the hive with 2 inch foam. Having a cold wall to attract condensation is an interesting idea. How cold does it get in your part of Indiana? Had air holes at the top and a side and bottom entrance for ventelation. I also had a quilt box on top with a candy board...

Lost 2 of my three hives over the winter. One was super wet inside. We had a very odd winer with a few days that jumped up into the 50's with such high humidity that the walls of the house were wet under the breezeway. Who is excited for snow season? Not us! We're depressed due to lack of snow.

Weather was perfect for that wasn't it! I swapped out the front blade for the bucket, and the 3 pt blower for the box blade. Greased all the points and pulled off the chains. Now we have snow in the forecast for this weekend! It won't last long though.

OK - we did the repair and lived to tell the tale. Mid PTO option

I bought an LS MT235HE last year. I purchased one on the lot and had them add a mid PTO to it so I had the option for a front snow blower should I want one. Cost was 1,020 for the part and install labor.

Tools & equipment that are fantastic.

On the subject of portable flashlights... I picked up the Streamlight Pocket-mate the other day. So far I am very happy. It fits on my keychain, is rechargeable and the spec say: -High: 325 lumens; 76m beam; runs 20 minutes -Low: 45 lumens; 28m beam; runs 1 hour. I somehow think actuals may...

    LS?

I was looking hard at the MT225HE and went with the MT235HE for the extra 10 HP. Came at the cost of emissions control garbage, but I sure like the extra power. I would think the same would be true if you bumped to the 40HP.

    Tractor lots are full

I went LS over Kubota mainly because when I talked to the Kubota dealer, they said they could not promise a delivery date (annoying but understandable), and until it shipped, they could not tell me what price it would be (unacceptable).

What did you do on or to your LS Tractor today?

I'm liking it! I looked at other colors and they are all very nice, but no regrets so far. This is my first tractor, and today is the 1 year anniversary of the purchase. I put 119 hours on it in the last year!

What did you do on or to your LS Tractor today?

I moved a nice big rock earlier this week - of course it was 90% buried so I did not know what I had gotten into till I started. Was able to roll it out of it's hole with the FEL and then lift it out and move it to it's new home (away from my future fence line.)

    Posthole digger/auger

That is hilarious... and True I was just going to rent one as I figured how many times would I really need to dig post holes? However I found a Rankin with a 9/10 inch Auger on Craigs list for 325 bucks - the payback on that was pretty easy math not to mention the ease of being able to dig a...

I picked up a Rhino Hitch. Link I like that it does not have the Drop bar protruding below the hitch. It is about 6-8 inches longer than other hitches, but this is actually kinda nice when I am trying to launch the boat at a shallow ramp. Have only had it a few months so I cannot comment on...

Can a Mahindra 1626 pull an RV?

I towed my 9K lb 30 foot trailer with my 35 HP LS. I needed to spin it in tight quarters. I used the draw bar, but put the bar as far out as it would go to provide more clearance for a pivot of the trailer. When I was done the drawbar was the shape of a banana. Tongue weight on the trailer...

Blackberries and Canary grass... sounds like you are in Western WA! I battled both with a DR mower for a couple years before we moved out. I think if I had stuck with it, it would have eventually removed them. A neighbor kept a pair of horses on part of our land and there were no...

Yeah - they are not foolproof, but much better than nothing! The messaging is quite nice - I have sent messages from Southern Africa before. I carry it with me on all my hikes/hunts. We have had several of our climbers activate them to initiate SAR. Best story I heard was a guy who slid on...

I find myself working on ladders and the roof solo from time to time. I carry an in-reach Locater beacon with me so that if I should fall, I can summon help. Basically a hikers version of the "help I have fallen and cannot get up" system. Hopefully I would be able to push the button should I...

What DON'T You Like About Your New LS

Not sure I understand #1. Moving the FEL to float physically hits one of the hydraulic connections and knocks it off? If so, which valve? one on the FEL, or a front remote/3rd function?

Thanks both for the info on the PSI. I will look closer at the hoses - did not see a pressure rating in the quick look I did initially. I added a top and side link Hydraulics to my 3 pt last month. Game changer!!

Where do you source Hydraulic cylinders?

Greatly appreciated! I figured I would not locate the perfect size. I am guessing that if I am limited to a ten inch stroke, something in the 15 to 16 inch total retracted length should work. Some seem to be rated for PSI (e.g. 3000 psi). I don't see PSI listed on my tractor as a...

Consider a 204 Ruger. I get 4K fps with mine. Super fast little round, easy recoil, pretty easy to load for (but you will need 20 cal funnels as well as 20 cal cleaning rods and brushes). Super effective varmint round.

    TODAY'S GUN TIME

I really worry about pressures on this one! This is one I have pretty much decided I will buy ammo for. Which is too bad as I have 5ish gallons of spent brass that I picked up for a steal.
  164. RobertEH

    TODAY'S GUN TIME

Yeah, I have heard simple green and/or an ultrasonic is the way to go. I paused my reloading efforts for the 5.7 after my first 20 or so. The shoulders were not bumping back far enough and I had cratering primer strikes with starting loads. I picked up a new die and have plans to try again...
  165. RobertEH

    TODAY'S GUN TIME

The 5.7 brass has a lacquer on it. You are not supposed to even tumble. Ultrasonic is the recommended way to clean the brass. Regarding Annealing, I would think that would be bad for the lacquer as well!
  166. RobertEH

    TODAY'S GUN TIME

Reloading for the 5.7 is tricky. Special brass treatment and the risk of high pressures is very real. I load for about 30 cartridges from 204 Ruger to 505 Gibbs and the 5.7 is the only one that makes me nervous.
