Gear Oil Type for Tiller Attachement

Fill your PTO gear box to 1/4 to 1/2 inch on the dip stick. If you overfill you run the chance of blowing the seal on the seals on the gear box. There are two. That’s why it’s blowing out oil. You’re fortunate the vent is working. As mentioned these are low rpm and fairly low duty gears. Same...

    TMG Tiller gear box seal

Got the seal job done. Here’s a couple of photos of the job. The project started out as maintenance on the slip clutch. It wound up doing a seal job on the gearbox and on the transmission. When I took apart, the slip clutch it was minus any clutch disc one seem to be melted. Are there any...

Looking for best quality/price for 48" rotary tiller with adjustable tilling depth

I agree with shred then in a week or so herbicide. In clay you might consider a light discing. Since you’re not planting a seed bed you might just disc and drag. Lot faster for sure even if doing several passes.

    Tiller slip clutch

Thank you for the comment. My problem is that my tiller is used and is without a manual. I have purchased a used TMG tiller I serviced it today and ran it for the first time. I’ve never run one before so I have no experience with one. Moving cut tree branches & logs

Thanks for all the comments. Good ideas. I was concerned that using the FEL would possibly damage something. I was concerned about using the drawbar because years ago (novice tractor operator) I nearly tipped a tractor back while trying to pull out a stuck drilling rig. Thanks again.

I have an Mx5400 about 2 years old. I was having starting problems with it. I found if I operated the forward reverse peddle I could get it to start.
