I also use the 3n1 adaptor with the bucket on the back when i have the stump grinder on the front. Works ok to move chips out of the way. With bucket on the front and the box blade on the back i can grade and move a lot of dirt.

I know what a 1to1 is and i am positive i graded more 1to1 slopes than anyone one the forum cut grass on. sitting on a table and doing it is two different things. Shoot the grades and then watch and see ......

I want to see it, what most think is a 1to1 isn't even close.... or they go up till back wheels get on it and thats it.

My 422 would lift and carry a heaped bucket of modified stone and the engine was between the pumps and the battery was in the rear......

One other thing if you want to enhance the power of the bucket shorten the bottom a few inches and add it to the top and you will gain power and lift capacity at the same time. Plus you can keep the back end of the machine down more...... jim

I guess you don't understand how you rate what a machine will lift. All loaders are rated with two things struck and heaped with the bucket CLOSED not flat on the ground. The newer ones with the longer arms will lift less than the older ones and you put all the blocks you want in the bucket...

This is rather funny, my 422 would pick up a heaping bucket of modified stone as i fixed the driveway many times. Modified stone weighs 3000 lb. to the yard and that is 27 cubic ft. so thats 111.1 per cubic ft. times 9+ is a 1000 lb.+ for being heaped. They aren't weak at all, they will bury a...

First you need an engine that will run on steep slopes without loosing oil pressure , most can't work steep.... that eliminates 90%+.......

Just go up and down easy enough as long as you got a place to land at the bottom. I go up and down for a short ways on a lot steeper than that. ..... Jim

First off it is a stupid set up, the highest force is in the middle and it is supported on the outside edge. The pivot arm would need bored out and replace the other tube with a heaver walled one hand weld it on to the pivot arm turn a shaft to fit but first drill and tap for a zerk fitting in...

The outer tube is nothing but a spacer, get a good grade of steel bar for the inside weld it up.... It sure looks dry inside, lack of grease maybe the cause...... Jim

You need to understand that what I did is nowhere around the radiator and if a hole that size hasn't in anyway weaker that part of the tractor, nothing happened in 700 hrs. of hard use.... Jim

The lay out of the radiator above the drive shaft is stupid.... you can't get your hand in under the core support to get ahold of the grease gun fitting to get it on the zerk fitting. That is why I drilled a hole in the frame and used a solid extension to push it on from the out side and just...

You don't have a 4500P, they are terrible to grease the drive shaft front zerk fitting. It's all you can do to touch the zerk fitting .... Jim

First the video is of a lot heavier built bucket and when it is open and back draging the rear of the bucket is engaging the ground first and the part of the bottom is only grading loose dirt. second that is a track machine, made for grading. a big difference than a wheel machine. ... Jim

You can eye ball it close enough to see if it is lined up when the tension is applied. Also make sure the tension is right..... Jim

not really, just sit on the road surface and deepen and widen the ditch. use the material you hammer out to make a berm above the road surface. if you get an excavator that has a blade it will level you road out after you are done. A week at the most for a 1000 ft...... Jim

If you had spent any time on a excavator with a hammer you would hear the the welds breaking in the stick and boom, plus the hammer self destructing. Most companies use rented equipment for that ....... Depending on the rock and how deep you need to go you can get a ripper for an excavator...

Why not take it to a hydraulic repair shop and see if they can rebuild it.... Jim

A hammer will tear a machine apart, plus it will tear it's self apart. without a pic it maybe better to creat a swell to turn the water away from the driveway. Something that is shallow and wide and can be mowed easy..... Jim

Funny that you can lift all that weight when it's only rated for 500 lb. a 6 cf. bucket with a struck capacity what equals 666 lbs of bank dirt let alone heaped...... add the weight of the grappler and it will lift less ...... Jim

No not at all, but 3 point attachments are made to use going forward, with a bucket you have to be going backwards and steering plus controlling the bucket.... I used it best from the ground walking a long side of it, it is near worthless back on the 3 point..... Jim

If you need the wiring harness you can get it from PT. and it will fit you may have to drill a couple of holes and adjust the height for alignment and cut off the out put shaft and add the drive on the other end depending on how old it is..... Jim

The older 422 was the same as the 425 except for the engine and the roof and it should have two steering cylinders..... Jim

For me, I would put a 25 hp Kohler in it and be done with it. no big deal. They would have the same pumps as the same age 425. Take a couple of pics of the engine and the pump set up....... Guys on here can help you get the right engine...... Jim

The neutral lever. I mentioned is the one between low and high range, so it can be towed or moved. Neutral between forward and reverse should center itself there. There should be a lever to un hook the the mower and a second lever to loosen the belt that drives the mower and slip it off the...

If I wanted to move it, I would find neutral, it would be between hi and low range so it will move. take the deck off and let it sit there and drag it up to your place..... Jim

I changed out a 422 to a 25 HP. and even change to higher torque wheel motors and it is no big deal, The results were were not as much as I expected. I never had a issue in the winter with the Robin engines..... Jim

Then make a bushing that will fit down in the hole and use a 1/8" carbide end mill and put a center hole in the broken bolt and then open it up up with a drill, and soak it with Kroil and remove it with an ezout.... jim

A strap filter wrench works, or an oil filter wrench used on older cars..... jim

What size bolt broke off? We use to take out broken head bolts out of Mack engines with a piece of steel pipe and a welder. Put the pipe down in and weld it inside and turn them out with a pipe wrench ..... jim

I would check the switch first.....See if you have power to the switch, then trace the wire down to to PTO. and see if you have power there... jim

I did find out when I put the deck away for the winter I release the tension on the belt and roll it up and take all the back bends out of it. seems to last longer that way..... jim

I went that route one time on a deck belt that broke went to TSC and got the same size B belt put it on and it didn't last 9 hrs. some aren't bade to bend backwards.... I'm on my second Ventrac belt in over 500 hrs..... jim

I use nothing but OEM belts so I don't think the little squeal is an issue since it done it from new....... same belt and 600 hrs...jim

just checked the air gap and it is .050 with a feeler gage. it has a little squeal from day one...... jim

I have a Ventrac stump grinder and I use it without the stupid mirror .... They work on normal size stumps pretty good.... 2-3' and that many, I would look for something bigger..... I have done about 30+ some up to 2', it takes many long days..... jim

As. you get older things bother you more that didn't when you were young. I could plow all day never bothered me much, then ran dozer but the seats are set on an angle to help with looking back. Now at 77 looking back from the tractor seat is history, blind in my right eye doesn't help...

Yes, you will contaminate the results, the only way to cut one with a grinder and a cut off blade is up side down and keep the contamination at the upper end and disregard it .... jim

cut the top off, sit the filter in a vice upright..... take the pleated paper out and look on the inside, thats were everything shows up, it unfolds like an accordion .... do it all the time. Do the same with oil filters you can se trouble on the way before it happens..... jim

The Versa loader will not pick any more or dig anymore than the 48" bucket, look at the video the only thing they load is mulch...... I dig top soil that I can see over the hood, that is bank dirt ...... jim

The parking brake on mine, when released and it has about 3" of free play before the light comes on..... So what my guess is that parking brake is adjusted too tight...... jim

Yes I got it backwards on the light, if you wiggle the parking brake you need an adjustment on that switch.... jim

Just bypass the neutral switch and see if it works, also the electric clutch has to be off and you have to be in the seat or bypass it .... jim

I was looking at 3 point sprayers and some run off a gas Honda engine with a 60 gal. tank. I don't know if they would work or not...... jim

I would look into a 3 point 60 gal. sprayer that uses a gas motor to power it. A 100 gal. seems huge for just a ball field. If you already have it, get a 12 volt 60 amp. alternator and drive it off the front and not fill the tank to max..... jim

They are different diameter or different spiral I think most are double spiral... But carbide is I bet brazed on, those teeth on the newer ones are bolted on the whole tooth and I'm wondering if it isn't a trencher rather than a stump grinder...... jim

Same here I'm on my own, top one is easier to see just remove the plate under the steering wheel near the bottom and where you can see the top bearing that has the large nut, then raise and lower the mower deck a little and see if there is any movement, if not, it's in the bottom bar...... jim

BTW. Stump grinders have bolt on teeth, that maybe a trencher or a super old stump grinder.... jim

That hose needs replaced it's too small, should be the same size..... I use mine to make a ditch too, to bury electric lines... jim

I had one on a old 422 and it did great. I reversed the blade and the hoses to throw the chips away and did some huge cherry and maple and oak stumps. yes you will need a new blade or see if they can fix that one.... Pine stumps are a cake job ....lol.... jim

The problem with that is weld penetration and drag it down through the threads. Parting it off below the weld cuts it off clean to screw often cut weld off going away from the thread..... less chance of trashing the cylinder ..... jim

if you part it off on the lathe ahead of the weld you won't have to deal with the penetration fo the weld. Then see fit screws off, if it does turn the rest of the weld off going away from the threads...... I would bet the weld was used in place of a lock nut.... jim

It doesn't on a Ventrac mower deck, that is why I said it and the roller would block the rear discharge. They flat throw it under the right front wheel on the tractor, anything would help..... jim

Maybe cut a discharge hole on the right side of the deck and frame it in for strength.... then put a roller in the back....... jim

I do have the manual top link, I use the hydraulic. one... I would check with Ventrac on the other four parts you need ... The arms and links are made for the Ventrac.... jim

Having had both, the Steiner is a little more crude than the Ventrac. it seems the Steiner is stronger on the hydraulics than the Ventrac.... As far as the three point hitch, I have it but it isn't used much and near worthless.... The Ventrac mower deck is way better than the Steiner and the one...

Look at the parts manual ..... I would look at the bar on the bottom first and check for play on both ends.... jim

I removed them and chucked them up in a lathe and rounded the edges with large radius, it helped a lot.... Wet ground.... it's a poor set up, you need a weight transfer system.... one more thing you can't run caster wheels because the deck runs too close to the tractor..... jim

An excavator is made to dig lifting up, from the pics to dig out the island ?? I would have made a dry level spot and clean the the mud off between that island the dug any good dry dirt and filled it in hole I dried up and walked out on it and did my thing. If you have no dry dirt to set on...

Why would you go into float tilting ? For th limited need for float I would slip the hook over the leaver, bolt the other end on something and take some of the bend out of the hook end ... Plus when on hooked put it in the slot till the next time.... jim

Maybe you should look at a Power trac they are very good machines and excellent on the front bucket and other implements like snow plows. If it had a weak point it would be the mower and travel on very steep areas, great in the woods. They will lift more than twice what most Ventracs and cuts...

I think you would to compare both with the bucket and lift capability and the curl .....Ventrac uses the hydraulic. pressure off the hydrostate but implement and steering pressure on Steiner are on a separate external pump. It is very noticeable ...... jim

No they wouldn't have .... The 3000 series is an excellent mower it is not as good with the other attachments. Small wheels and tires higher center of gravity but excellent view of what you are doing.... A PITA to get on and off.... If I didn't have heavy work to do and not steep I would have...

The 3000 series is belt drive and it has less hydraulic power than the 4500 and 450 Steiner. they are light weight also with aluminum front and rear differentials verses cast iron on the 4500 and 450.... jim

You need to rethink that statement, My 4500P doesn't have a choke and it has higher horse power and more torque than the Kubota diesel and only burns .1 of a gallon more an hour...... jim
