From what I read, If the hyd. sys. fails, the valve "locks off" the hydraulic fluid so forks or bucket do not move... About the float... Folks talk about putting their snow pushing "blades" into a float condition so it will follow the contour of the ground to make plowing snow easier...

Thank you... "Pilot operated check valve" is the "REAL" name of the device I need help with... From what I have found on u-tube, "safety block" is the job site name... If there is a leak in a hydraulic circuit, a "check" of the manufacturers design, closes the hydraulic circuit... A fail-safe...

U-tube showed a Cat that had a "conveyor" attached to the front blade type thing... The conveyor rotated around the blade in a continuous loop moving soil that had been removed from a ditch... the pipe laid.... the conveyor covered the pipe and filled in the ditch... Looked as if it would work...

I added some home made shoes to my back blade... Had them bent at the local machine shop.. Welded up supports and mounted to the bolts that hold the wear plate... the blade height is adjustable by turning the top link.. It's a minor adjustment but allows to tweak the cutting depth...

I had trouble getting my non crimped alfalfa to dry.... Then I bought a drum mower that cuts a 4 foot swath... thin swaths dry faster than thick... my dry time now is 4 days or less.... I do wish I had a crimper....

Thanks for the compliments.... The back story... I used to grow garlic and needed a mulch maker.... Todays straw choppers are $$$$$.... I found the "chaf chopping" drum on e-bay and it sat on the barn floor for 6 months while I drew up possible configurations... found a compatible PTO...
