PTO operating while off the tractor

The simple solution I've used for years on several tractors is a bungee cord to hold the seat down when I want the PTO to keep operating when I leave the seat. I keep several bungees strapped to the brush guard in front and the roll over bars in the back - they come in handy for lots of things...

What can I spray in the woods to control unwanted growth but not harm trees?

I see in the previous responses the concern about damaging trees. The problem is that the discussion depends on what kind of trees you have and what you mean by brambles. Do white pines get old & brittle???

Conifers in the pine family generally become "brittle" in the winter which is when they shed their branches. Once the sap flows in the spring the brittleness abates. Eagles know that; they build their nests before the sap starts to flow. They don't collect nesting material from the ground, they...

I need to make good use of 20 acres in Oklahoma.

If you are in a timber growing area and mills are nearby, planting trees for future harvest (and/or carbon credits) is rational. Lowe's/Kobalt 80 volt battery tool system: a cautionary tale.

    trail clearing technique and tools

I use a 12 inch mulching blade on my Stihl FS91 handlebar brush cutter. It may spark if you hit a rock, but keeps on working. I use it on blackberry bushes, salmon berry and saplings up to an inch. has the advantage of chopping everything to smithereens so I don't have to pick up after myself.

    Diy timber beams, it's slow.

You can indeed get a ripping chain but it's not necessary if you are only doing a few beams or boards and have the time.

    Diy timber beams, it's slow.

I also have an 'Alaska sawmill" That would work as well, but I usually start with the harbor freight "lumber maker" then proceed to make boards with the Alaska.

    Diy timber beams, it's slow.

Harbor freight has a chain saw attachment for less than $20 called the "lumber maker." it's not great for lumber but works just fine for what yo want to do. I have made many a 20 foot beams out of poles off my tree farm. If you need two beams plan to spend 2 hours.

I have a question, my most recent trailer came with a small Lithium Ion Battery pack. I use the trailer a couple of times a year. I admit i don't check it. In all the posts above are you talking lead batteries only or including lithium Ion which don't have the same discharge problems in general?

I like the idea of a battery powered trimmer, but if you have heavy work to do, you can't beat a Stihl FS 90 with handlebars. I have two of them. They work great as a string trimmer and equally well with a brush cutter attachment. Veeeerrrrry easy starting, always. MF

In Stihl's favor, it is the only brand in our area sold though dealers that actually have onsite maintenance and repair shops. if you buy a chainsaw at Lowe's be prepared to throw it out in less than a year. Even the independent small engine guys around here won't work on big-box chainsaws.
