Year old with 60 hours? Take the battery to the JD dealer and have them test it. If its bad they owe you a new one under warranty. My JD 790 battery went bad the 1st year I had it (internal short) got a new one no problem. They might even send a mechanic out to fix your problem. Guess that depends on the dealer.

In my case it was the frame ground connection too. I thought it was clean enough because I read good voltage through the cables and frame to the starter. After all, it started all those other times? But my friend Larry checked it when I turned the key and the voltage dropped to zero. So he chiseled away excess paint on the frame and put a lock washer on the bolt to dig into the frame. The tractor fired right up.

Sometimes from a poor connection, carbon builds up there and makes no connection after a while.

I agree with Rob tractors are like boats and trailers when in doubt clean all the grounds. Or have a special talent you can trade and maybe get Robs buddy Larry to come help you out;) (check with Rob to see if was worth it in the long run:D :D)

Sounds familiar, but my 3320 was doing something like that right off the bat...

If you find (like I did) all your connections are good, the battery is good, and your control modules (?) under your steering wheel provide the same result when their places are switched, you too may have a bad ignition switch.

The noise you hear sounds different though--is it on the left side & loud, or on the right side, and more of a buzzing sound? If it's on the right, that's the fuel pump, starter's on the left--I hope it's the buzz..

If so, I'd ask for a new switch, it's an easy swap.

Good luck!

I had a poor ground do the same thing at a work day with about 20 people around. Kind of embarrasing with a 1yr old tractor! worse yet I had read on here only a few weeks before that it was a known problem with mahindra 4110's. They powdercoat the frame, then attach the ground.

I would check all connections like everyone suggested. Then I would take the battery to an auto parts to be tested under load. If the battery as an internal short no matter what size tractor or battery you try jump starting with will not work. You said you change the oil! I would never do that on a cold engine that sat for 5 month. Hope you get it running a lot of good ideals.
