10K Deck over tilt or with ramps

A flatbed makes hooking up a GN way easier. Although it’s the better system 5th wheels are far too bulky for pickup use IMO. When I’m unhooking a GN I leave the tongue a tad lower than the ball so you can feel it the next time you’re backing up.

My Son taught me a great trick. Don't jack up the trailer enough to completely clear the ball. So when you rehook you align yourself with the trailer and back until you feel the hitch jump over the ball and stop. Piece of cake.

doesn't eliminate the need to crawl around to lock-in, hook chains, plug up lights.

But a 5th wheel is much easier.

If your having a good day no need to exit the truck to actually Hitch the truck trailer up
except to hook up wiring, lock the latch and lift the jack.

Yeah I know- it eats the center of the bed when not hauling a trailer- unless you remove that Big Heavy and Greasy HD 5ver mount...

Great Now i got grease all over my new khakis - and I was having such a good day:laughing:
But most all smaller trailers (under 20K) have a GN coupler unless you special ordered something different. For a real special pain in the butt, imagine owning a small fleet of 3/4 and one ton trucks. You have 7 trailers to haul equipment and they all have a different coupling method. That's how one of our friends runs his business. So if a truck is out, most likely, so is that trailer/equipment.

Crawl around? lol horse crap! You might have to get in the bed to hook/unhook the safety chain, and undo the latch that is all, no crawling around.

A bumper pull with a spring loaded jack is a major pain to pull the locking pin and push the leg down.

A GN is way easier on a truck pulling a heavy load.

I’ve never crawled around in a regular bed truck to hook a GN. With a flatbed I can hook up from the ground.

me either! I even have a toolbox in my bed. Even the plugin is at the back corner of the bed easily plugged in from the ground.

Yep. You probly need to stick with a bumper hitch.
