To give you all a quick history on my tractor, several weeks ago I noticed that the fuel pump was no longer "ticking" when I turned on the key. The tractor stilled ran like a champ! I have gone through at least four or five tanks of fuel since then.
Yesterday was spent mowing my ten acres without a glich. I went out this morning and fired her up to let her idle while I swapped out the RFM for the BH toe "recut" some of the tall stuff from yesterday. After the swap I started off to the back two acres and I noticed that the the rpm's were slowly but steadily falling off then would suddenly climb back up then down and so on. The engine will idle smoothly at a lower rpm. Thinking that maybe the filter was bad I turned around and headed back to the shop.
In looking at the filter which looks clean, I found a 2 amp "tube type" in-line fuse in a bundle of wires just above the fuel pump that was blown. The main fuse for the pump below the dash is good.
Could this be my problem or dose it sound like it could be something more serious (i.e. the pump finally gave up ther ghost)? Of course I don't have any of the old style fuses around to test my theory.

Any Ideas???

I'd make a quick trip to an auto parts store for a fuze. If it blows you need to determine the cause of the problem. If it doesn't you may find that it fixes the problem. Good luck.

I went back out to "look" and see if I could find something obvious and when I started the tractor up again it ran fine. Have been out for the last few hours moving dirt around.
There must be something in the fuel tank that could be partially blocking the line and then came loose. Don't know!! But she is running again without the fuse. I'll have to trace the wire back to see what it runs.
My list of maintenance do's for the winter is keeps getting longer and longer! Sure hope I get the shop finished in time so I can fit the tractor in and do everything. Was already planning to strip her down and repaint the sheet metal plus the 200 hr is coming up due. Now I have to trace wires and possibly flush the fuel tank as well.

But if I can't work with it then I might as well work on it!!!
