Thanks Soundguy, I knew I could count on you to teach an old dog new tricks.

And I'm trying to learn as many of them as I can from you as well.

Didn't you say gas is pouring out of the carb?

Gas did drip from the carb the other day, but not today.

Better check that out man. If gas is filling your intake pipe and dripping out that's your problem.

I guess I should have made myself more clear. The test light goes on the two posts with small wires. Not the center post at all.

I'd try a different condenser if you haven't already. Sometimes new ones are bad. Sorry if it's already been mentioned, sometimes I don't read everything.

You simple have no idea what you are talking about. ;) respectfully

I'm guessing you've never seen a ford tractor front mount coil..

1 primary wire on top.

Bottom of coil that clamps over the distributor, and 4 nipple cap has a pigtail primary wire which touches a concave head screw in the distributor to feed the points, and then the secondary is a flat thin metal spring tab that rides a conductive nub in the distro cap.

Its not a standard 2 wire and one tower round coil.. Its actually square..

My,my,aren't we peevish today? I'm sure pmsmechanic has seen a fair number of Ns but simply misstated what he was thinkin. There's enough inaccuracy in this situation to go around but there's better ways of pointing them out. I wager every single person that read the below comment by Tractorable know's there's other reasons for gas dripping from air intake (most common is overly choking while trying to start) but not a one hurled a barb at Tractorable over it. If you must rebuke someone, advise Batman he shouldn't start multiple threads about this same problem.
Fuel leaking from carb means either the float valve is sticking open or gas has leaked into the float itself and it no longer floats to close the valve.
Disassemble carb per above and check for sticking float valve and/or fuel inside the float.
