Hi Looking for help rebuilding or replacing the front hydraulic pump on a Ford 4000 Industrial Tractor. This is a factory Backhoe with front and rear buckets, run off a hydraulic pump on front of engine.

It is a Vickers Vane Pump 2344988 or 2344990. Additionally, help on locating a replacement hydraulic filter as well.

Welcome to TBN.

You need to look closer as the numbers you give are casting numbers. It should be stamped on the pump. It’s possible it could be rebuilt, but you might search for a parted out 4500 (I assume that is what you have) and get the plumbing for a gear pump. Possibly get a decen, used gear pump.

Thanks for the reply, Yes it seems all the numbers are casting numbers. I think something like

D1NN600B FORD 4000 4500 BACKHOE REPLACEMENT HYDRAULIC PUMP​

is as close as I am getting without finding a used pump. Pump pictured is definitely original to tractor.

Are there any other numbers on that vane pump? Usually would start with something like 20V *** or V20**. Look closely in the inlet and or pressure port. There might be a number stamped on the rotating group cartridge visible. This would be flow in GPM @ 1200 RPM.

Depending on model of vane pump you might be able to get a replacement pump or rebuild kit from Attica Hydraulics but you will need the correct model code.

Thanks again. I did not realize I needed to find stamping. I found more numbers.

I believe VS 1F-17G 15B 20

From memory it looked like Vickers model code but I dug out my old Sperry Vickers catalog and I could not find any vane pumps that started with V3. Makes me wonder if this was something special built for Ford.

I will look at house later. See if I still have any info. Had to get a coupler for the one I had
