1972 ford 4000 3 cylinder diesel cav pump problem

does not look like the fuel is returning to the tank do you know if there is a check valve somewhere in the system ???

Is there a window on the side with a fuelline mounted to it ? That banjobolt do have a valve in it to pressurise the sisteme a little

i was looking at that....thats where the injector lines go on the pump....i was afraid of that also seems like no fuel is returning to tank

yes it runs down from the fuel filter i took off to make it easier to get the top off put it back on no leaks

Your next test wil be to see if the injpump is rotating !

could you tell me how to do that ??? loosen the bolts at the pump where the timing marks are ???

No! At the other end of the pump with the fuelhose on it...remove the hose ...then remove the backend of the pump...leeve the vanes in ...keep it in with your finger and crank the engine an see if the vanes is rotating....the strip that part and clean the filter in that part

Thank you that would help i have some manual's but they don't go into that much detail on the pump
