1995 F150 300 6cyl 5 speed

We had bought a new 1/2 ton in 89 with the 300 with 5speed put 350,000+miles was are farm truck also had pulled 24ft GN cattle trailer and never any trouble besides was beat to crap from cows and trees but we sold it and it was the guy daily driver for as long kept up with.

I will most likely put 10-15k miles a year on it as it will be splitting time with my 97 F150. I need to park my 97 and fix the cracked dash, replace the gem module and an O2 sensor. I plan to keep both for at least another 5-6 years. I will then take the Tundra my wife drives and get her a new vehicle. I will probably keep either the 97 or 95, depends on which one is in better shape mechanically. I really want something relatively easy to work on and inexpensive to repair. The Chevy/GMC line from 94-98 bring a higher price in the same shape as the Ford trucks I am looking at. I also feel the 300 is the best engine for my needs- durable and easy to work on.

It is a big 6 had plenty power pull what we needed too,the truck was put threw **** and never missed a lick. Think clutches and starter the basic stuff all ever replaced never went to shop.

Great truck I had a 95 super cab XL five speed plenty of pulling power. never had a problem minus clutch and one broke motor mount. That motor is a tourqe monster.

Looks like they never finished the HPTV build, I think they switched over to Engine Power name and started over. Would have liked to have seen them assemble the engine in their own "shop".

One downer that I could not believe I did not notice prior that was a big selling point to me. The truck only has one fuel tank. I like the dual tanks better, more range between fill ups. Not entirely a deal breaker, but still a negative. I think I was blinded by the cleanliness of the truck and looked right past it!

I know exactly what you mean. Mine had a single tank. 19 gallons I think. I was constantly filling up.

Then I got a new truck with almost double the tank size and it seamed like I was getting 50 mpg between fills. But it hurt the wallet a bit more when I filled up.

We have been looking for a similar truck to replace the '93 f250 diesel with. While FoMoCo made millions of them, for some reason, few are ever listed for sale and I think that is because people love them.

Best F-150 combo ever! We ran over 200 trucks and vans with the 300-6 over the years, does not get much more reliable or easier to work on.

I've heard of a few issues with the fiber timing gear but don't remember particular years.
Some brothers made a dirt track car with a 300 ci(or more) and they beat a lot of 350 V8's. When they would come out of the curve and hit the gas he could pull away from them and the sound was so different.

My preference would be for one tank. I know the extra range is nice, but there's that much more stuff to go wrong with 2 tanks. Only time my truck's ever left me stranded was because that switch failed.

I spent some time at his place yesterday. He called me over to discuss the truck. After a long conversation, he has decided to keep it. He looked at several options, but just could not find something he could buy with what I offered that would match the condition and miles of his current truck. I fully understand his position. These trucks, especially in good condition, are scarce. Back to searching now.
