2 Compact tractors, does one of these stick out to be a better deal?

In this case it’s not a matter of what is a better deal but what you need. The better deal for your bank account is the John Deere. The better deal on a cold day after 12” of snow is the Kubota. It’s more a matter of how much you want to spend.

I would definitely go with the Kubota,You will never regret getting the cab.Another big plus is the new warranty.

Consider a snow blower, front or rear mount on a windy day, you will be Wearing much of the snow from the discharge chute. I added a cab to my MX this year, just in time for one of the coldest winters on record and we receive about 80 inches each season. And yet it is not up to members to spend another's money.
The cab I purchased is all glass, very similar in appearance to factory original.

A friend had a soft cab, plastic sides. I sat in it, there was so much distortion, could not really establish orientation. Don't remember the brand. He shortly thereafter sold the open station and purchased a factory cab. Perhaps some plastic is more transparent?

No anguish for me. I maintained 1/4 mile of driveway in upstate NY for 30 years with no cab. The Deere with ROPS only is a non-starter.

I have a soft cab with the optional glass windshield. The glass is nice but the side and rear plastic windows are clear with no distortion.

If you can handle the cost, get a tractor with a cab, heater, AC. An option is a used John Deere 4320 or 4520 with cab and up to 1000 hours on the meter.

I've plowed snow with open station tractors since 1972 and haven't frozen yet. Around here 50 inches is a bad day. Dress properly, enjoy the crisp winter day. On a hot summer day get out early or late, wear plenty of sunscreen, and look forward to a cold one when done.

Not everyone shares your opinion, which you are entitled to. I learned to hate plowing or blowing my 1/4 mile driveway with no cab. The worst was having to do it in the rain which happened all too frequently.

Strictly my opinion. Part of it is making do with what I have, but part of it is that it doesn't really bother me. I have much family transplanted to North Carolina, the long winters up North bothered them quite a bit, and they did what you did. I guess if it bothered me I might be living there too.
