Twitching a good sized log out of the woods by dragging it. I had the inladen forks in the air to give turning clearance and, when I lowered them, I unintentionally bounced them. The two combined stresses were more than the midsection could bear. :(

Anyone have a lead on a salvage unit? It doesn't look like this piece even shows on the fiche.

Worthington ag parts is a large company with several locations that specializes is used equipment parts. One problem might be identifying the broken part if it doesn’t show on a parts break down.

Good luck on your search.

Thank you. Yeah, the calls begin today. It appears it may share the part with several units.

Fun little project. 🤔

I found a housing at Worthington's in PA. It's supposed to ship the 15th.

No issues tearing it down, other than a steep learning curve without a service manual.

It doesn't appear anything else was damaged when the housing failed. I ordered 4 isolators that were bad on the steering column bracket and firewall, and the throwout bearing is slightly gritty, so that'll be done too.

Lot's of pictures, a few notes, and a death threat to my son if he moves any parts. ;)

Wow, that's a lot of parts to keep track of!

Actually doesn't look like too bad of a project. Not an easy one by any stretch but challenging enough to keep it interesting.
Have you thought of any way to reinforce the area to prevent another break?

I have. I've had the unit since new and worked it hard the whole time. There's a definite trigger here that I'll avoid recreating. :D

Everything has to be a saga.......

Got the "new" housing and Everything appeared the same. Swapped out the bearing on the 4wd shaft, added a coat of paint, installed the clutch shaft and fork. Bolted her up to the tranny.

Roll the engine back....... totally different bolt pattern and starter position. 😭

OUCH!
Looks like you've got a winter project to keep you and your son busy.
Sigh..... I need it now for wood. :D

I'd have had it together today if I had the correct housing. :(

Looks like you have the tools and space for the task. It's just parts, the right parts help. Not so long ago I went through similar with a broken front axle.
The difference between the original and the replacement meant I had to machine a new steering cylinder. Fortunately, I'm equipped for something like that. (Lathe, mill etc.)

When I put the snow blade on the antique Fordson, I ran the push bars all the way back to the rear axle. Including relay plates at the mid mounting pads. Breaking the casting is not big on my list of things I want to mess with. Though I have split that tractor twice in the 45 years I've had her. It's a wet clutch on the Fordson, so the throw out bearing should outlast everything else ;-)

Well..... three months in.......

I found a local guy to weld the housing. He did an absolutely beautiful job.

It took me nearly 18 hours to put it back together. Zero spare parts, I left one fitting on the block loose. Not bad for no manual. :)

Now to figure out how to bleed the hst side of things. Everything else works, but it won't move.

Hope you got a refund on the incorrect salvage part.
I had do that to our Farmall Super M. My Bil had a large round bale on the aftermarket FEL. He was driving too fast, got to bouncing and the bell housing broke.
He was lucky he wasn't hurt much, as it was the steering wheel hit him in the chest and knocked the wind out of him.

One of the reasons for buying a bigger tractor than you "think you need".
