Im ready for the rain to go away so i can get all of my hay cut and sold
Looks like we're gonna have a great season for producing hay. Maybe the best in several years. I just wish that I could sell it.
I have about 55 acres of hay meadow. However, I have limited barn space and it's almost full. So I'm only fertilizing and cutting one 12 acre patch. Rolled 37 bales (4x5) last weekend. I had cut it and fertilized 3 weeks earlier.
Sold 15 rolls today, so that made a little room in the barn.
You mean you're leaving 43 acres of hay just sit in the field?? If you stack it and tarp it along the edge of the field wouldn't some of them fellas next door (Texas) have a "burning" need for it?

Like Jim said, horse owners won't buy hay that's been stored outside, even under a tarp. Down here, the humidity is just too high. Mold and fungus can make a horse very sick, or worse, kill it.You mean you're leaving 43 acres of hay just sit in the field?? Jim, a PM with contact info is inbound to you.Bigfoot62
What kind of hay and how much per bale? What will the bales weigh? What's your zip code?
That seems to be the story of my life. LOL Wrong place, wrong time, etc.Wish you lived closer, Bigfoot. . .
. . . I just hate to hear of hay not being baled, given how short supplied we may be again, by fall. *sigh*
What would you need a bale if you did bale it and size bales? I have two pasture left to see what going to end up with, starting one next friday 30ac., I have 40rolls,takes me 140 to 160(5x4s).Know what you mean. But, I won't bale hay just to watch it rot. And, without a market for the hay, I'm not spending the money to fertilize those meadows. And, I don't sell hay that's not been fertilized.
