Or They like following your well groomed trails cause they don't sink in snow up to there necks lol.

Imo its not good publicity for the can am brand if you need aftermarket parts / modifications on your drive line to prevent future failures. Anyways depending on how much your plowing and grooming with the boss especially using pods have you considered a aftermarket IR temp gauge for your primary clutch and drive belt? I believe another more knowledgeable member mentioned temp gauges for the drive line(primarily the primary clutch and drive belt) in a different thread awhile back. Good to hear the boss or whatever you've named it is back and doing what you bought it for!

The aftermarket shafts have a much thicker body but have the same splines where your shaft failed. The design of the splines/joint is not that strong because of the lack of contact area. The spherical cut axle spline fits into a pocket with a straight cut spline. It seems like it is a poor-man's CV joint design. I wonder if the added torque of running pods would necessitate a different design for the entire length of axle?

Lost my front drive.

Unfortunately I think the OP has found the weak point of what's going to fail when running pods plowing or grooming with this 6x6. imo apparently there's no give anywhere from the drive belt to the ground especially using tracks.

Interesting Wonder if it pays to thoroughly grease it during installation or add a grease fitting somewhere to be able to grease splines?

I'd have to guess these couplers were well greased when assembled. Off snow season, we never even run 4wd so I'd guess we have about 10 hours with it in 4wd with pods. A weak setup?

Bad design that hasn't been fixed by brp since inception imo.

That 1st video was enlightening.
82 hp driving those front pods and big plow, big snow, with that small splined shaft, phew!

It seems to be nearly “shear pin”

It would seem that front tires or ski/skid setup maybe better?
