I have an old 16hp B&S cast iron engine model 325431-0135 that I would like to use on my log splitter.
I have looked for pump adapters that directly mount on PTO face with no luck.
Is there an adaptor that will mount a 22 gpm pump to this beast?
I would really like to keep this old iron in service. They sound and run very smooth and crank out 25.8 ft-lbs of torque (13.3) hp at 2700 rpm.
Thanks

Do you have a picture of it, and have you measured the bolt pattern?

I do. The photo is the PTO side without the closure cover.
The OD of the closure cover Is 6.5 inches and the bolt circle outside that is approx 7-5/8.
I checked surplus center and nothing looked compatible.

Is this a 2 stage pump for a log spiltter or a single 22 GPM gear pump?

Before spending any money, check the HP requirements for that pump. Unless it's a two stage pump, you don't have enough HP for a pump that big.

According to this, that 16hp motor could provide about 16GPM @ 1500 PSI.

From here:
Horsepower Calculator - Metaris Hydraulics

Formula: HP = PSI * GPM / 1714
PSI is gauge pressure in pounds per square inch; GPM is oil flow in gallons per minutes.

Rules-Of-Thumb:
Horsepower for driving a pump: For every 1 HP of drive, the equivalent of 1 GPM @ 1500 PSI can be produced.
Horsepower for idling a pump: To idle a pump when it is unloaded will require about 5% of its full rated horsepower.

I wouldn't run much less than 2500 PSI for a log splitter and that would require 32 HP at 22 GPM, using that calculator Moss provided.

It is for a 22gpm Pump currently on my log splitter.
The current engine is a 10hp tecumseh HH100 with the relief set at 2500.
It will peak at 2500 briefly before stalling the engine.
I was starting to realize there was no standard PTO flbokt pattern on theses old engines.
Looking at the adapter on my tecumseh the OD looks to be big enough to possibly modify and fit the Briggs.
I need to remove the adapter and see if there is enough meat on it, if so I will pay my buddy machinist a visit with the engine block to see if it is doable.
I will keep you posted on my findings.
Thanks for all your input.

I found a source for pump adapters that fit older Briggs, Wisconsin, Kohler and Tecumseh.
If you have an application it looks like you solution could致e found here.

Is this correct p/n?
Could you send dimensions so I may verify fit or to ensure there is enough material for me to modify to fit.

Thanks Tim Bartlett
